McCain is being so condescending
He keeps saying Obama is naive, that he doesn't understand the difference between this or that, or the definition of some policy. He's talking about Obama like he's a joke. I really hope this blows up in his face. It's insulting.

2. It is an effective technique
Easy enough to counter, but it is legitimate.

5. Thanks!
I feel like Obama has won this. All I've heard from McCain is earmarks are bad, we're winning the war in Iraq but will lose if we leave in 16 months, and Iran is really bad. The rest seems to be hot air, condescending drivel, and claiming he's not "Miss Congeniality." Hope undecided voters feel this way, too!

12. Not to mention the insipid anecdotal references earlier on..

Everything reminds him of some human interest story... I was waiting for a vomit-inducing "when I was a kid and we had to walk 5 miles barefoot in the snow to get to school" business. And the name dropping shite... "Kissinger was my friend for 35 years" uchhhh... I hope that nauseated the undecideds if his barely repressed temper didn't.

4. The condescending attitude is apparent to everyone. I don't think
it's going to do him any favors. Obama's right to ignore it. It makes McCain look cheap.

8. He's trying to look a little cheap
He's wearing blue to try to look honest and his tie isn't as high in quality as Obama's. Seems trivial, but I wonder if his advisers wanted to make him look less "elite" than Obama.

6. In another post, the CNN approval meter indicated that
Independent voters were highly disapproving of this behavior on McCain's part. It is driving his negatives up.

7. Without substance and consistency, he resorts to deception, insults, and smears.
The question folks should ask is "If McCain can't even demonstrate that he comprehends the POSITION of his adversary, how can he claim an ability to interact with other nations?"

International relations CANNOT be successfully conducted with straw men and falsehoods. Sneeringly dismissing the presentations of those with whom one negotiates is NOT a mature, rational approach.

9. I agree
Even if the person's opinions and policies are deplorable, snubbing your nose at them does no one any favors. Diplomacy isn't legitimizing those beliefs - it's trying to avoid disaster and needless violence and death.

10. Someone (I wonder who?) gave him a whole list of talking points ...
... cut spending, protect Israel, I love Veterans.

And none of McCain's (or the GOP's for that matter) support any of his claims.

11. The veterans talking point made me sick
On one hand, I'm glad Obama didn't rise to the challenge. On the other hand, I wish he'd asked McCain why, if he loves veterans so much, has he voted against increasing their benefits so often?

13. The attack on veterans would best be handled by the veterans themselves.
He cut their funding, they have groups who can challenge him for the next few weeks on his lies in ads.

14. I think we'll see that tomorrow.
The Veterans will come out and explain that 20% rating McCain has.

15. And that's the way it should be.
Correct the mistakes on the TV in ads.

Over and over and over again.
