Blast me if you want, Russia was not really the agressor. They went into protect
a region of Georgia with people who are closely allied with Russia which the Georgian's were attacking.

1. True. It's all red meat for the know-nothings in the swing states.

3. Russia should not have had troops in Georgia in the first place
Needs an international peace-keeping force.

9. There weren 't Russian troops in Georgia. They invaded Georgia to protect the people
in the region that were being attacked by Georgia itself.

4. Yeah.
I don't agree with unilateral invasions of sovereign states, but Georigia did attack South Ossetia first.

8. I know that.
The Georgian army shelled South Ossetia first, and Russia "responded," albeit in an overreaction.

15. and
Kosovo is part of Serbia. Or is it? South Ossetia was an autonomous region like Kosovo. Georgia wanted to bring it back in the fold like Serbia did with Kosovo. Unlike Serbia, Georgia didn't try to commit genocide. They did however make the mistake of attacking Russian troops.

Russia was anxious to show off its renewed strength and Georgia gave it a reason.

I am more worried about Ukraine. Russian never really accepted its independence, and a major naval base for Russia is on Ukrainian soil, whose lease ends soon.

Obama had it right, both sides were in the wrong.

13. Both sides were wrong yes, but the truth isn't getting out there about exactly what happened.
We were involved in it too. Our troops were involved with war games with the Georgians just before this happened and I've also heard that we are training special forces in Georgia. I think that these actions are very provocative.

16. And that drives me nuts. The whole part of the debate when he was talking
about Afghanistan, Iran and Georgia had me wanting to scream.

I agree with Dennis. We need a Department of Peace. It's 2008 and we still haven't evolved.
