8. Ireland doens't have much in the way of a diversified econ. Land sales account for much.

10. duo reasons
1. Many of the jobs that were there are now gone (U.S. based ... i.e. DELL computer in Limerick closed down recently; others have had to close up).

2. SUB-PRIME loans in Ireland. They loaned out a lot of money just like was done here. Houses went way up in price. Many stand vacant now and there are no buyers. Different country, same story as here. :(

7. there are some high tech companies there right now, i don't know how it's going
but my husband works for one of those companies.

12. it is not going good over there
a relative of mine is there right now and it sucks. Lots of unemployment, no jobs and GLOBAL WARMING. It has been raining there for the past 3-4 months straight! :scared:

11. Ireland does not spend as high a portion of its budget on defense
as we do. I believe that they have universal health care. Income taxes and sales taxes in Europe are much higher than here.
