This is the first time in my life that a candidate for President is younger than I am.

Among his many other favorable traits, Barack Obama is the first person likely to be our president that is younger than I am.

And I am about to hear him debate his opponent.

This is truly a unique event.

2. I understnad the feeling. Bill Clinton was that for me. This is NOW ...

.... the first time a candidate - Barack - is (barely) young enough to be my son. I'm only 7 months younger than his mother. He was born after I graduated from high school in June 1961. Straaange feeling. I'd be prouder than I can say if he were my son, my nephew, or just my friend.

A similar revelation occurred when I realized Ari Fleischer was younger than I am.

I thought, "Ok, I KNOW I am full of shit so I KNOW most of the rest of the people my age are full of shit, therefore, the White House Press Secretary is full of shit, and I know it!"

One grows up thinking "The Authorities" are somehow this separate type of people. They aren't. Now they're just schmucks, just like me.
