4. There is only one Rethug plan
Setting up the Dems for the backlash. The Rethugs led by Bush are desperate. They don't care if they fugg up the entire economy as long as they win.

7. I wish I would have seen your response prior to
my own down below. You hit the nail on the head. All we're gonna hear for 4 years is how bad the economy is under a black president, and didn't we see it coming.

There will be no let up. If you thought the Clinton years were bad, sit back and watch. 12 years of congress, 8 years of the presidency and everything is the Democratic Partys' fault.

they have nothing, I'm guessing they will end up tacking on a couple of amendments and that will be it.

9. Their plan is simple...
Pin the bailout on the democrats
Pin the reason for the bail outs on Clinton

Force the democrats to do the actual work, then they all vote NO....run home to campaign about how they stopped the evil democrats from throwing away the tax money of poor people..

This plan will actually save the congressional seats of some republicans..

21. Article (Time blog) Cantor plan....
snip>>>>>>>

Seems to me it doesn't address the fundamental problem that there is no market for these securities. How can you write insurance on these securities unless you know the risks you are taking and you can't know that unless you have a market. Reminds of that pink floyd song. Anyway, this is a much less effective way of addressing the problem and would very likely cost taxpayers more than the tarp. Perhaps most importantly most immediately is that since it is not clear how and if it will work it won't stabilize financial markets.
