If this bailout doesn't happen, the world won't end.

And there won't be a Second Great Depression.

Too many of 'them' would get burned badly in an economic meltdown. They'll figure out a way. It may piss us off. It may not.

But I just don't think we'll see Armageddon.

1. Life as we know it will certainly change..
a lot of bad things will happen, but probably some good too. My golden years are looking a little dimmer.

3. Yours and mine both .........
I have no company pension (haven't worked for a company that offered one since the 1970s). My 'investments' are total shit of late. I have some rental properties that give some modest positive cash flow, but their values are in the shitter. My company is doing a good business, but who can predict how long that will last?

But then ..... its always something.

The hard thing right now is the uncertainty.

I will feel 100% better with the inauguration of President Obama.

5. I know what you mean, I've been pretty conservative financially..
I think I'm in as good a position as I can expect to be, but like you, neither me or my spouse will get a pension, and I think pretty much everybody's job is at risk at this point. It's scary but unfortunately I believe we're faced with this regardless of whether we hand over this money or not.

2. Your thread title reminded of an expression I once saw on a lighter.
It read, "Give Me Ambiguity or Give Me Somethin' Else !"
