Does Gonzales' current situation have anything to do with spying on Dem politicians?

I thought the whole 'political firing of prosecutors' thing had been out there for a couple of months. At least, it was being speculated about.

Last week there were those FBI whistleblower reports about the Bush Administration illegally spying on their political opposition, and then suddenly this week, everyone in Washington is really concerned about Alberto Gonzales.

Could the two be related somehow? Any indication of that? I haven't heard anymore about that domestic spying leak, so I don't know if that's just disappeared from the radar screen, or if it's still floating about.

Bush is sounding especially testy today in that presser from Mexico.

They spied on the UN Security Council members, remember? Their motivations are simple: money and power

And I think they'd do even more to save their own hides. They will pull out all the stops to prevent investigations from getting too close to the truth. I'm expecting to hear of another terror alert or a reported attack BY Iran any day now.
