In a nut shell, what is happening with the bailout plan...
Well, the issue is this. the dems got suckered. the repubs, who are in the minority and still are treated by the dems as being in the majority, pulled a sucker punch.

When it became apparent that the dems weren't going to pass the original fascist plan, they let the dems craft their own and then stone walled them. It's not the the dems are for it, per say, it's that they put up their own version and the repubs are now stone walling it and saying we don't want to "bail out wall street".

It's more like the repubs just aren't getting their free pass like they have in the past years with the IWR and the Patriot act. The dem plan puts caps on ceo salaries, helps out people with bad mortgage loans, gives money to wall street on an installment plan, has oversight and doesn't give paulson carte blanche.

It's the basic case of the repubs saying, "if I can't get to keep my ice cream, not only does no one get it, but I'm going to shit in the container".
