1. Then why doesn't Canada bail them out if it's so important?
Seriously.

2. They don't have the resources. The assets at risk are nearly as large as the Canadian economy.
Stop with all of this knee-jerk Lou Dobbs populist nonsense and study the damn issue.

12. Oh brother. Now bailing out Goldman Sachs is a humanist virtue.
You really need to turn off the TV now and again.

23. No offense..
But the bail out is a very sensitive issue for non wealthy American taxpayers right now..

This is an outright kick in the balls to every non wealthy American.

We know the system is being gamed and it's hard to be completely rational and cold about this.

21. My knee jerk reaction is this but
my more considered conclusion is that we do need to protect ourselves from the fallout of a real financial crisis. Better to mitigate the consequences in a reasonable and fair way than to experience a real depression.

Just my humble opinion.

16. The global repercussions worry me too
It's one thing to be greedy and self implode because of it when it doesn't affect others, but our economic problems really do have a global impact. We knew that when we accepted the global superpower role.

I wish I was done apologizing for Bush, but it looks like his actions will be with us for many years.
