Leahy plans on subpoenaing Rove if he does not comply with request
<snip>
I intend to bring the attorney general up here. I am requesting several other people to come up here, certainly Mr. Sampson, Ms. Miers, I assume eventually Karl Rove. If they don’t come, then I’ll seek to subpoena them up here, because the story changes almost every time we pick up the newspaper. <…>

What I want to find out is what happened, why we’ve been given different stories. And I want those answers, not in an informal briefing; I want those answers in public, in sworn testimony, under oath before my committee. As chairman, that’s what I insist.

6. You go, Leahy! Subpoena the bastards. Put them under oath.
Then ask them the tough questions. Hit them again and again with questions designed to unearth the truth, so long buried in their minds.

Investigate. Indict. Impeach. Imprison.

8. 'Saw Senator Leahy on PBS' The News Hour yesterday evening.
He reiterated his intention to put Gonzales and many others under sworn testimony -- not one of those casual drop-bys Condi is famous for -- and the look on Leahy's face suggested that the Attorney General had better be prepared and maybe wear a diaper.

We worked in 06 to capture both chambers of the Congress so that moments like this would feel better with Leahy in charge than his Rethuglican counterpart.

9. They will claim Executive Privilege
If appointed, not confirmed, they can claim Executive Privilege, refuse to honor subpoenas....remember it is Justice who is supposed to enforce subpoenas....do you see Gonzales enforcing subpoenas from Congress? Ending up in court somewhere, taking years. "Constitutional Crisis"

Would be a good way to call for impeachment of bush or gonzales. Good publicity for us, what are they afraid of??? Win/win for us now, or in 2008.

11. They have a very weak case for Executive Privilege..
doesn't mean they won't try it though. I don't think it will take years for this to play out regardless, Congress could get this thing moving pretty quickly, the Repubs did when they were going after Clinton as you will recall.

15. As Chair, Leahy has the wind at his back this time.
I think Abu will resign before any hearing convenes.

If he doesn't, Leahy will drag his sorry fascist ass up to the Hill with his bare hands.

18. True. We've got an all-star line-up there. The Thugs' crew reminds me
of what's wrong with the modern-day Republican Party. No wonder they're having difficulties.
