Don't let this become the Democrat's War
That's the headline of PDA's hard-hitting news release issued today. But before reading it, take action: If you haven't contacted your Congress members to support the Lee Amendment for fully-funded withdrawal from Iraq by the end of 2007, please do that now. Call (and get others to call) Congress toll-free 1-888-851-1879.

Here's the text of today's release:

Despite the voters' mandate last November to change course, Democratic leaders in Congress seem bent on facilitating and funding President Bush's deepening war in Iraq. Democrats should vote no on the loophole-ridden supplemental bill that would prolong the disastrous and counter-productive occupation of Iraq. more

1. PDA Director Tim Carpenter said
PDA Director Tim Carpenter said "Fully-funded safe withdrawal within a year is not an extreme position. It's the position of 60% of the American people, according to last week's USA Today-Gallup poll. And that position would be even more popular if Democratic leaders stood their ground and fought for ending rather than prolonging the occupation."

"Many Americans fear that a reckless President is threatening to expand his disaster into Iran. So do many Democratic leaders - but they lack the will to even assert Congressional authority on the matter of Iran."

Carpenter concluded, "When Democrats have faltered in recent elections - 2000, 2002 and 2004 - it wasn’t because the leadership was too bold or progressive, but because it was too vacillating and beholden to timid, out-of-touch Beltway strategies."

PDA and the Democratic base demand strong, smart leadership from Speaker Pelosi and the Congressional Democrats on ending the Iraq Occupation and preventing an attack against Iran.

2. If we are honest we have to admit they half-owned it from the very
beginning. Supported Bush1 attack on Iraq, supported Clinton continuing deadly sanctions, and in my ways gave cover to Bushie2 in the run-up to this war.

and any Democrat voting for the current spending bill does not deserve our support. If they refuse to support it, it will lose, and then bush will have to beg ... and they can set the conditions for its passage. We don't have to worry about "vetos"--- Bush has to worry about passage.

3. It may already be too late
Many of the Democrats don't want to appear to be taking away money from the troops. The Democrats don't control Congress they are just simply the majority party, the White House controls Congress along with the assistance of the Republican minority.

4. In a parallel story line
I chuckle out loud every time I see an ignorant trash "conservative" bristle and seethe when someone says Iraq is bush's war. I just don't understand. He's their war president. He's their hero. They should be proud to call it bush's war. Our kids are dying because they are enabling bush, but maybe in the deep dark crevices of their very small minds, they figure they are wrong, yet too proud to admit it.

Democrats should vote no on anything relative to Iraq. It has nothing to do with "supporting" the troops. That's a cute little three words, criminal republicans use to stimulate their base; similar to porn. If the dems in congress want to show the trash they support the troops, just buy yellow magnets and wear flag lapel pins.
