Which Dem "led the charge" to remove the "Iran" language?
from Crooks and Liars:

Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks is mad and wants names. He got them, too:

UPDATE — We now know the leader of the pack. Rep. Allen Boyd (D-Fla.Tallahassee) led the charge to kill off the Iran provision. People should let him know their dissatisfaction. His office number: (202) 225-5235
fax: (202) 225-5615

(only takes email from constituents)

1. Thanks for that info
I thought it was outrageous that they removed the Iran provision.

And I'm sure this guy was not alone in his actions.

2. Shelley Berkley D-NV
according to this.............

One of the chief advocates for eliminating the Iran provision, Nevada Democrat Shelley Berkley, said she wanted it out of the legislation because she wants to maintain the threat of U.S. military action as a tool in seeking to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. "It would take away perhaps the most important negotiating tool that the U.S. has when it comes to Iran," explained Berkley.

3. Kinda sounds like the same logic that got us into Iraq
Don'tcha think?

With another president this language might not be needed. But we don't have another president. We have this one who actually wants war.

7. IMO they took out the provision because they're afraid of losing AIPAC campaign contributions
That's just what I think. There's probably more to it than that but I'm sure that's part of it.

19. Who do you all THINK is pushing the Dem message in preparation for 2008 election?

Bill Clinton keeps being hoisted up as the Savior of Democrats and its best mind - and his strategy so far has been to stay as close as possible to Bush's positions and military decisions over the last 6 years.

6. Are you really surprised? Once the leadership propped up Lieberman...
Are you really surprised? Once the leadership ignored the
will of the CT primary voters and decided to prop up
Lieberman, the handwriting was on the wall.

We lefties can piss off.

Maybe it's time we pushed-off instead.

8. NO...I WILL NOT GO!
I've been a democrat as long or longer than most of the congresscritters have and I ain't going anywhere...

I will tell them what fools they are every chance I get until they get their act together! Running away from your problems don't solve anything, in the long run.

14. If Congress decides action against Iran is warranted, then give permission
Never again give this president authorization to use military force ahead of time.

Abuse is W's middle name.
