Dumb question about the fired lawyers.
the phone calls placed to the lawyers by the senators and congressmen/women-is that in itself illegal or just inappropriate? Please and thank you.

1. I think it depends on the individual call and what was said.
It's inappropriate to MAKE the call at all, but if the elected officialwas putting pressure on the USA to somehow change the process, then it certainly be obstruction.

3. Agree with napi21
The congress critters could lose their seats simply for making the call in the first place. That would be a political action in the next election. But my understanding of this is that it cuts very close to outright obstruction of justice which is a criminal matter which would be investigated by...

Ohmygod...

the Department of Justice!

That is precisely why Senator Schumer and others have their shorts so much in a bunch on this matter. We're talking about a clear and unambiguous constitutional crisis. It seems to many that there might be a clear case for impeachment of the AG and criminal actions against people involved in this. There seems to be a clear case for perjury here, if not outright obstruction of justice, both of which seem to be this administration's modus operandi.
