How can I look into a possible case of voter fraud?
I know a person, a lifelong republican, who lives in Iowa and spends winters in Arizona where he has a second home. I know that he votes absentee in Iowa, but I suspect he's also voting in person in Arizona. He's just that kind of person. A tax cheat and an all around schemer.

Are there any checks in place to prevent a person with two homes in different states from voting in both? When you register to vote do they check to make sure you're not registered someplace else? I can't imagine all the County Auditors or Secretaries of State being able to keep tabs between themselves.

So what do I do if I want to prevent this person from being able to vote twice? If he was found to have done it in 2004 or 2006 could he be facing potential jail time?

1. When you register to vote
you also basically swear an affidavit that you are not registered anywhere else. If he is found to be voting in two places, he can be charged with voter fraud.

2. Call the Secretary of State's office, elections division, in both states.
Do NOT tell them he is a Republican.

If they ask, you don't know his party affiliation.

3. voter registration records are public. if you know where his second home is in AZ, call the county
clerk and ask--or call the local democratic party office there, bet they could check on it.

5. Thanks for the advice. Do you know...
Do you know if whether or not they voted in previous elections is also a matter of public record? You would think it would be.

7. you should be able to find out if they voted
but not how they voted. I don't know how long the records are kept. Double registrations should be easy to check for, though, if you know both addresses.

Before I became a permanent vote-by-mail voter, I used to browse the voter lists at the polling place to see how my neighbors were registered, and if they had already voted.

8. No, of course I can't find out how they voted.
That would be pretty silly, secret ballots being, well, secret and all.

Thanks for the info tough.

4. I suggest you contact your local Dem Party OR your local
Obama Hdq. I don't think you or I can get voter history, but THEY should be able to do so. They already have lists of registered Dems and Indys.
