WASHINGTON, March 13 — Late in the afternoon on Dec. 4, a deputy to Harriet E. Miers, then the White House counsel and one of President Bush’s most trusted aides, sent a two-line e-mail message to a top Justice Department aide. “We’re a go,” it said, approving a long-brewing plan to remove seven federal prosecutors considered weak or not team players.

The documents provided by the Justice Department add some new details to the chronicle of the fired prosecutors but leave many critical questions unanswered, including the nature of discussions inside the White House and the level of knowledge and involvement by the president and his closest political aide, Karl Rove.

The White House said Monday that Mr. Bush and Mr. Rove had raised concerns about lax voter fraud prosecutions with the Justice Department. And several of the fired attorneys told Congress last week that some lawmakers had questioned them about corruption investigations, inquiries the prosecutors considered inappropriate. The documents do not specifically mention either topic.

In rating the prosecutors, Mr. Sampson factored in whether they “exhibited loyalty to the president and attorney general,” according to documents released by the Justice Department. In one e-mail message, Mr. Sampson questioned a colleague about the record of the federal prosecutor in San Diego, Carol C. Lam. Referring to the office of the deputy attorney general, Mr. Sampson wrote: “Has ODAG ever called Carol Lam and woodshedded her re immigration enforcement? Has anyone?” Ms. Lam was one of the seven fired prosecutors.

was taken to the "woodshed" fer a whippin', according to the Official Talking Points, by Reagan for talking out of school about the lack of belief within the administration in the Reaganomical, supply-side economics that were practiced by them.

David Stockman was "taken to the woodshed" over his off-topic revelations, and all was forgiven.

(For Reagan, and Reaganomics, and the Laffer Curve; Stockman seems to have been disappeared while all the forgiveness was being spread around.)

I've seen this several times, and have never commented on it. But please--come on.

Is this administration actually suggesting that they were getting rid of legal appointees who were not
doing enough to combat "voter fraud prosecutions"?

We all understand--very well--that this administration is looking for team players who
will allow torture, destruction of our civil rights, a willingness to ignore the Constitution
and a loyalty to the psychopath Bush and his perverse policies of war and evil.

They're actually saying that they fired judges and attorneys because they were not
proactive enough on voter fraud? I tell ya, they must think that we are so incredibly
unplugged and gullible.

It really offends me. Their trash-talk excuses and lies are just as bad as their Fascist, illegal
power grabs.

12. Bush is going to hate coming back from SA! He left with the Libby thing

in full bloom and the attorney scandal simmering but in control he thought. THey even had KKarl Meister out there tamping this down or at least attemting to tamp it down Now he returns and KABOOOOOM right in his face he won't even get a grace period for hhis "Success" in SA. I say Abu Gonzales is out by the end of the month!
