How much would national health care cost in this country?
And does anyone really think that it would cost more than 700 billion?

1. No.
I was watching CNN yesterday and they brought this figure up, even though I forget the number now.

They were detailing Obama's plan, and I think would cost like 75-90 billion, or 300ish billion (yes a huge difference, but I forget the number).

Either way, it pales in comparison to the bailout we are going to give big business now.

2. If every Mexican moved to America and went on welfare it would cost less than $700 billion.

I'm not implying that this is what Mexicans want, merely framing in terms of what right-wingers say they fear most.

Also, I haven't actually done the math.

Or looked-up any numbers.

But it sounds good.

If every Mexican moved to America and went on Welfare, it would cost less than the pricetag to fix the McCain-Gramm Depression of 2008.

3. No.
2.8 Trillion dollars is spent on health care in the US. That would provide an absolutely wonderful single-payer system, likely with drugs included, for everyone in the country.

I would also point out that the US is the only country in the world without any form of drug price caps, and that's just stupid.

4. It would cost less than it costs now and would cover everyone
if the right plan is adopted, like HR676. On the other hand if a privatized plan like the one the Republicans are pushing is done, it will cost much more than necessary because all those middle men, like insurance providers, will be skimming their profits from the government money pool and still not delivering quality health care.
