Ethnic cleansing, not surge, key to drop in Iraq violence - study
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080919/sc_nm/iraq_lights_dc

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Satellite images taken at night show heavily Sunni Arab neighborhoods of Baghdad began emptying before a U.S. troop surge in 2007, graphic evidence of ethnic cleansing that preceded a drop in violence, according to a report published on Friday.

The images support the view of international refugee organizations and Iraq experts that a major population shift was a key factor in the decline in sectarian violence, particularly in the Iraqi capital, the epicenter of the bloodletting in which hundreds of thousands were killed.

"Our findings suggest that the surge has had no observable effect, except insofar as it has helped to provide a seal of approval for a process of ethno-sectarian neighborhood homogenization that is now largely achieved," Agnew's team wrote in their report.

Guess Obama was right about that too, Five Plane McCain.

Suck on that, gramps.

McCain and the Bush admin has been crowing and beating their chest ,and taking credit for the reduction in the killings in Iraq. The fact is,it is the Iraqi themselves who are the real reason.
Al Sadr's truce, plus the Sunnis who decided themselves to stop killing us and kick Alquieda out if we paid them.

No matter how many troops we surge there,if we stop paying them to kill us,they will easily go back to the way it was before.
Mccain is delirious and seriously out of touch if thinks there will ever be such a thing as Victory in Iraq,or anyone of these Arab countries.
I would like him to explain what is his definition of victory.
The Iraqis will cram McCain and Bush's freedom spreading where the sun don't shine.
We lost the so called Iraq war from the time we invaded Iraq.
Lost our Moral compass, respect, and any sense of being the world leaders of Morality.
Due to out of control and unbridled arrogance, by the warmongers and too many of our people.

A Totally immoral, and unjust invasion on the innocent people of Iraq, who had nothing to do with 911,and on top of that, feel justified in doing it too.
We have evil right here, and those here who claim We have to eliminate evil, they better pray that there is no God,for their own sake, because they will also be on top of Gods evil list
