BGE raised rates recently by nearly 100%. Constellation is their parent company. They got caught in the financial shitstorm currently swirling and their capitalization is in the toilet.

There was rumor that a French energy company would buy them, but tonight we hear that Warren Buffet's MidAmerican Energy will be the new parent company.

Does anyone know what kind of people these might be? Is Buffet a fair guy? I don't know that much about him except that he's richer than Jesus and supports at least *some* Dem causes.

2. Don't know that much about Buffet, but he has at least some common sense
He thinks it's ridiculous that his secretary pays a higher tax rate than he does and has said some sensible things. I don't think Phil Gramm or Dick Shotgun ever said anything sensible.

3. BY the time this is over, a few uber rich people will own everything.
That was what was supposed to happen with the Great Depression---and it did happen with the farms---but FDR intervened before the rich could finish their plan. Now, they are going to snatch up everything they did not get back then.

Wednesday, June 27, 2007; Page D03

NEW YORK, June 26 -- Warren E. Buffett was his usual folksy self Tuesday night at a fundraiser for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) as he slammed a system that allows the very rich to pay taxes at a lower rate than the middle class.

Buffett cited himself, the third-richest person in the world, as an example. Last year, Buffett said, he was taxed at 17.7 percent on his taxable income of more than $46 million. His receptionist was taxed at about 30 percent.

Buffett said that was despite the fact that he was not trying to avoid paying higher taxes. "I don't have a tax shelter," he said. And he challenged Congress and his audience to see what the people who "clean our offices" are taxed, to loud applause.

5. He's from my home town Omaha
guy still lives in the same house he owned 30 years ago, and it's not that big of a house. He's a smart dude.

Mid American isn't that bad. I wouldn't worry, if some rich guy has to own us I would be Warren's bitch. LOL
