I don't want to exclude anyone who might help put Obama/Biden in the WH. Pure and weak isn't going to get us change

3. Polarization is a good thing?
Jeez, even though I agree with virtually every aspect of democratic dogma (actually would prefer a more radical leftist party), I know and appreciate that some on here would find some part of my ideology DINO. Guns, religion, trade, civil liberties--the list goes on. Even if all dems did agree in broad strokes on something like firearm controls (and we certainly don't!), there is no way that we can agree on just how strong those controls should be. Personally guns aren't a huge issue to me, but I see lots of dems debating that here--which are the DINOS?

5. Other: There Is No Such Thing As a R.I.N.O
Republicans walk in lockstep. There is no such thing as a "Republican in Name Only".

Ergo, your poll is moot.

7. Not really...
...freeps will LABEL a Republican as "R.I.N.O." for what they perceive as even the most minor transgression. a good example of this is the ongoing debate over Immigration reform. Any Republican who favors anything other than shipping illegals back to their country of origin is immediately labeled a "R.I.N.O."...and that's just one example.

8. Who cares what Freeps think?
HEll, under those conditions, Ronald Reagan was a RINO according to Freep assholes.

I stand by my assertion.

And you seem to have an issue with this poll, which I respect.

I respect it as much as my right to post it. Stand by your assertion and have a nice day.

9. A DINO is usually still a D; a RINO is usually still an R.
In general "DINO" and "RINO" are terms used to describe people who are actually fairly clearly "D" or "R", but of whom the speaker disapproves.

So most DINOs are actually *far* better than most RINOs.

The only high-profile genuine DINOs in the last few years have been Miller and Lieberman, who genuinely were INO. All the rest have just been conservative, or more accurately less-liberal-than-other-Democrats-but-still-more-liberal-than-Republican, but still genuine, Democrats.

Miller and Lieberman, by contrast, are worse than most Republicans because they do significantly more harm to the Democrats, by allowing the Republicans to claim bipartisan appeal.

11. The worst Democrat is better than the best Republican for one simple
reason - they vote for Democratic organization of congress. No matter what, when it comes right down to it, a liberal Republican still votes to put Republicans in charge of congress - a Lincoln Chafee helped make a Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist possible; a Connie Morrella helped make a Speaker Newt Gingrich possible.

12. The RINOs always come back to the fold
They talk big, but when push comes to shove, they always fall in line. How many times had we held out hope that Arlen Specter, or Olympia Snowe, or Susan Collins, or even Lincoln Chaffee would choose principled bipartisanship, only to have them repeatedly scurry back to their side when the votes were counted. Jim Jeffords stood by his principles, and chose the honorable route of becoming an Independent. Lieberman, OTOH, became an Independant, but he still wants to pretend he is a "Democrat" in order to keep his chairmanship, even though he openly supports and endorses the Republicans.
