Exiled on MTV
I know that with all the things that are happening in America and the world currently no one really wants to see a post about shows on MTV; however, I wanted to say something about this show on MTV. It seems that MTV heard the complaints of some of the people who watched their series "My Sweet Sixteen" and were upset about the way some of the kids acted on the show. As a result, MTV started this show called "Exiled". The idea of the show is to take some of the worst kids from "My Sweet Sixteen" and send them to foreign countries to live as the natives live. For me this is stupid in that I contend most people would see what happens to these kids as mainly a vacation. At least I see the show as vacations for these kids. They get to go to places like Morocco, South America, and other places as "punishments". I say, if they really want to teach these kids a lesson and show them how grateful they should be, they need to put these kids on lobster boats and make them work or make them work as janitors for a week. I am not trying to criticize lobster boaters or janitors. It is just that I think these kids need to learn about hard work.

4. Not Sure
I really cannot think a good enough punishment for the parents. All I know is I would have never been able to get away with what these kids get away with. If my mom had given me some money and I came back the next day to ask for more she would have told me no and that I needed to get a chanel, prada, or gucci job. If I wanted that stuff I needed to pay for it myself instead of using her money. I do not see why these parents allow their kids to do such things. They should tell these kids to go to college or get jobs.

2. Empathy is something that isn't extended to the poor.
I think letting these kids see what it is like to break your back for minimum wage, while being told you're lazy and a sponge on society would do them worlds of good.

Once, I taught at a private school. The kids were shocked when I told them about my students who lived in cars, group homes, etc. I told my private students that it wasn't them who was wealthy, but their parents. And at any second, all that money could be gone and they might be living in a car. I really don't sugar-coat, and these kids were old enough to know exactly what I was telling them. Basically- put yourself in the shoes of others and lower your nose, you're no better than anyone else.

I'm not against people with money. But I can't stand people, rich-poor-whatever, that has no empathy for the plight of others.

3. I think that child labor laws might get in the way of that
And don't even get me started on MTV, what a shitty fucking excuse of a network.
