Rachel Maddow Ratings: Beats Olbermann's "Countdown" To Be MSNBC's Top Show
Rachel Maddow Ratings: Beats Olbermann's "Countdown" To Be MSNBC's Top Show

The student has surpassed the master, at least for one night.

"The Rachel Maddow Show" was MSNBC's top-rated broadcast Tuesday night, unseating Keith Olbermann's "Countdown" as the network's top show.

Maddow drew 1.8 million total viewers compared to Olbermann's 1.6 million. Maddow also outdrew Olbermann in the advertiser-friendly 25-54 demographic, taking 25,000 more young adults than her lead-in "Countdown."

1. I watch both of them. Love them both
I love KO's passion and RM's courage to publicly call a lie a lie.

2. The key is, Rachel keeps most of Keiths audience plus brings her own.
She starts out with a significant fan base from her radio show.

3. They key, imo, is that Rachel is civil and comes across as a journalist
Keith comes across as the left's version of Bill O'Reilly. Sometimes, I love his segments, but I can only take him in small doses.

Rachel is WONDERFUL. A breath of fresh air, imo.

4. Without Keith, there would be no Rachel.
Keith opened the door for openly liberal commentators. He also gave Rachel a showcase by having her fill in for him on Countdown. He also made sure she got plenty of chances to comment as a panel member during the conventions.

I'm sure that Rachel realizes she owes her MSNBC success to Keith.

I like them both.

9. I hope that doesn't happen.
MSNBC still needs a 10pm show (EST). Dr. Maddow should be a great lead-in for that, if programmed properly.
