You all know that Palin is just the tip of a very ugly, dangerous iceberg, right
She's the first of the new breed of bat shit crazy fungelicals who started out in obscure local offices, often getting elected after running unopposed, to make it to the fore of the American consciousness.

These are the foot soldiers of the guys like Robertson and Fallwell and all the rest of that generation of hate mongers and religiopoliticans. They are the children of the 'base' St. Ronald created.

They often seem harmless and even charming.

They're not.

But you already knew all that.

Right?

And now they want what they want. They're black and white thinkers. They don't do nuance and the don't do tolerance.

And they view us - liberals - very much as the enemy. These are the people who bomb abortion clinics. These are the people who aided and abetted Eric Rudolph.

These people are dangerous.

1. They will only be dangerous if they take over the Republicans,
kick out the fiscal cons and neocons, and turn to populist economics. Actually, Huckabee, not Palin, is the true prototype and danger here.

3. Good Point
The more rational Republicans should bolt right now. They should be vocal in their opposition and criticism to McCain and Palin. They should vote Dem this time around because it would actually make them a healthier Party. I am dreaming surely but it would really make them a better Party in the long run.

Thus the importance of this election. They need to be beaten and then smothered.

And mainstream Christians need to speak out against them ~ just like mainstream Muslims need to speak out against their extremists.

7. We have to do more than that
We have to make certain she is tarnished enough that President Obama isn't going to have to deal with her in 2012 when the Rethuglicans try to make her the Queen.

RWing Fundies are a fungus among us. They have been spreading for 30 years. They do not believe in a democratic Republic. They believe in Monarchy. Jesus will be "The King of Kings" on Earth when he returns.

Palin & her Cult are more dangerous than The Taliban or al Q. because they are stealth weapons in Amerika.

Edited on Fri Sep-19-08 01:34 PM by Patiod
She took over the Lansdale school board along with non-fundie seniors, who don't want to pay ANY school taxes (not enough fundies in the area to go it alone, so they enlist the help of seniors, who have only ONE thing they vote on, which is property taxes).

Scary bitch - told a Jewish board member he was going to hell. Nice.

36. "American Fascists: The Christian Right & the War on America" by Chris Hedges
Everyone should read this book. It will scare the shit out of you, especially if you are not fully aware of the dominionists & their beliefs. These people have zero tolerance. They count on our tolerance for others religion & beliefs, but tolerating them is actually tolerating intolerance. They need to be challenged & shown for what they are - radical, intolerant fundamentalists who are every bit as dangerous as the taliban.

Here's a thread from the DU non-fiction book forum on the book: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=209&topic_id=5027

New revelations re "stealth dominionist" Sarah Palin
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/9/2/14422/49170/241/583511

In my original post, I noted Sarah Palin's membership in a "stealth Assemblies" congregation, Juneau Christian Center--that is, an Assemblies of God church that tries very hard to hide the fact from outsiders that it is, in fact, an Assemblies of God church. This is pretty much a danger sign in and of itself, especially to those of us familiar with the Assemblies and its increasingly strident calls from district leaders for literal holy war with the rest of America.

However, a recent Harper's Magazine article reveals just WHY she shouldn't be near a borough dogcatcher position, much less a literal heartbeat away from the office of President.

For starters, JCC maintains very close relations with John Hagee's "Christians United For Israel". I've written on Hagee in past--ironically, Hagee was one of two "Joel's Army"-connected pastors McCain formerly used as "spiritual advisors" in an attempt to curry favour with the dominionist wing of the GOP.

And this relationship is troubling, to say the least, because Hagee and CUFI have a real love of seeing Israel as a literal "Armageddon pawn" to make the Rapture hurry the hell up and get here--including destroying the Dome on the Rock to build the Third Temple, if necessary (and yes, they've done Photoshopped images of just this). This is also the same lovely fellow, of note, who also essentially termed the nuking of the East Coast as a divine pimp-slapping.
