Batshit Crazy Bob Barr moves to keep Obama, McCain off Texas ballot

AUSTIN – Libertarian presidential candidate Bob Barr is forcing a legal showdown in the Texas Supreme Court to keep the names of Barack Obama and John McCain off the November ballot.

The issue is whether both parties missed a state deadline to certify the names of their presidential and vice presidential candidates for the ballot. The attorney general is arguing the law was followed and that the secretary of state has discretion on the ballot and its appearance.

Mr. Barr personally filed an emergency request before the court on Thursday, asking that the state be ordered not to mail ballots overseas this weekend until the issue is legally resolved.

At least he is equal opportunity in this, as he he attempting to "barr" both candidates from running in the Lone-Star State.

6. Ridiculously unlikely, but wish him luck anyway.
If he actually pulled it off we'd have the election wrapped up.

7. Let him ...
Obama can win without Texas. Hell, if Texas was taken out of the equation, Obama would do even better, closer to a landslide.

McCain can't win without Texas ... he needs states with big electoral vote counts (think 2000 - Florida and Texas).

Texas out of the equation? McCain has essentially a lot of states with the absolute minimum E.V.s ... 3 ...

In 2000, Gore could have won with ABSOLUTELY ANY ONE state switched. Bush could only win with Florida. The E.V.s showed that.

So, go on ahead Bob ... give Obama the landslide ... please ...

8. You're right. Texas has 34 EV's
And right now they're polling "Strong Republican".

McCain can't afford to lose 34 EV's.

Obama never had them.

11. I heard Barr and laughed.
McCain has a shitstorm on all sides. He cannot lose Texas. With all the Rethug Texas connections,
if he succeeds it will amaze me. James Baker is probably already on the phone.
