ROFL They're invoking T.R.!
From elsewhere:

I am under 45 years old,
I love the outdoors,
I hunt,
I am a Republican reformer,
I have taken on the Republican Party establishment,
I have many children,
I have a spot on the national ticket as vice
president with less than two years in the governor's
office.
Did you guess?

Yes, they have the balls to compare Palin to Teddy Roosevelt.
In 1901, as Vice President, the 42-year-old Roosevelt succeeded President William McKinley after McKinley's assassination by anarchist Leon Czolgosz. He is the youngest person to become President.<4> He was a Progressive reformer who sought to move the dominant Republican Party into the Progressive camp. He distrusted wealthy businessmen and dissolved forty monopolistic corporations as a "trust buster". He was clear, however, to show he did not disagree with trusts and capitalism in principle but was only against corrupt, illegal practices. His "Square Deal" promised a fair shake for both the average citizen (through regulation of railroad rates and pure food and drugs) and the businessmen. He was the first U.S. president to call for universal health care and national health insurance.<5><6> As an outdoorsman, he promoted the conservation movement, emphasizing efficient use of natural resources. After 1906 he attacked big business and suggested the courts were biased against labor unions. In 1910, he broke with his friend and anointed successor William Howard Taft, but lost the Republican nomination to Taft and ran in the 1912 election on his own one-time Bull Moose ticket. He beat Taft in the popular vote and pulled so many Progressives out of the Republican Party that Democrat Woodrow Wilson won in 1912, and the conservative faction took control of the Republican Party for the next two decades.

The last bit is interesting, that places the right wing of the republican party in control from 1912 to like 1932?

So what hill did she charge?

1. Teddy

Is one of the very few Republicans (along with Lincoln) that I actually respect. Sarah Palin is absolutely NO TR...the comparison is a joke.

4. Teddy was an environmentalist, invited the first black man to the White House,
fought against company monopolies, and was hated by his fellow republicans.

This Palin piece of shit doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as TR

8. And Teddy actually served his country instead of demanding that others had to serve...
And I'll bet Teddy didn't have a 35-fucking-thou$and-dollar tanning bed in his house.

a foreign leader.

11. He was a crook too.
And he rose, in six years, from the office of County Executive to VP.

12. Slick Sarah is SO like Teddy R!
Why, she's so much like Teddy Roosevelt, and she's so much cuter! That makes her twice as good as TR! So instead of the Square Deal, she'll introduce America to the Double Deal! So there, you libruls!

Okay, how long before they compare her to Kennedy? I love the smell of Republican desperation.

Palin... not even close.

On Edit: I certainly feel that, if he were alive today, he'd be incredibly proactive on the issue of climate change.

Teddy Roosevelt would be completely and utterly laughed out of the "modern" Republican party.

They wouldn't stand for having a progressive with the (R) tag, especially not one that actively targeted monopolistic companies, took deliberate aim at yellow journalism and was a naturalist.

Faux News would take every opportunity to bash him and call for him to be removed from the party if T.R. ran today.

Edit:

I hold TR in very high regard, in the interest of full disclosure.
I have read his autobiography and his book of letters along with other biographies and some period-written pieces on the man.

He was a religious fellow, but he never put religion out there as part of his platform.
He'd be completely obliterated by today's Religious Right.

15. I think there is a correlation between how confident the GOPhers feel ...
... and which GOPher hero from the past they drag out to compare themselves to.

When they're really confident they fluff up Nixon's credentials. If they're not feeling that good it's Reagan and his "revolution"!

Next comes Eisenhower, then Lincoln. And last comes Teddy.

Looks like our GOP friends are not feeling so good about themselves.

16. So... are the ones who are sending this email
expect McCain to drop dead (either by an assassin or naturally) or do they expect Palin to split the Republican vote and hand victory to the Democrats?

Or both?
