"...What we've seen in the last few days is nothing less than the final verdict"...
..." on an economic philosophy that has completely failed. And I am running for President of the United States because the dreams of the American people must not be endangered any more. It's time to put an end to a broken system in Washington that is breaking the American economy. It's time for change that makes a real difference in your lives."

He needs a TV add that talks about the New Deal and the 1933 Glass-Steagall Act and
how the GOP's promotion of Reaganomics brought us to this crisis.

5. I agree. It's way past time but now is a good time and would be to the
point to talk about Raygun and how he was a catalyst to our current crisis. Then, maybe, the Raygun worship would end and the people, the ones who listen, will understand where the path of the last thirty years has taken us.

The causes of this disaster are plain, as are the solutions, however those same solutions will hurt a lot of people that matter, So what are his proposals?

15. It wouldn't. I've downloaded and read the "Blueprint for Change",
and the substantive parts are status quo tweaks to, fundamentally flawed, current systems.

You say "single payer health care", but his plan is not a single payer system, it is health insurance regulation with accompanying government oversight (another agency to be politicized by future Presidents), and a huge giveaway to the insurance companies.

I'm hoping that this is just what he thinks he needs to get elected and that he's right, but if this is implemented it's just slightly less shitty than what we've had.

I am voting BO not because he is correct on every issue
but because McSame is so disastrously wrong on every one of them .
After that we have to elect so many progressive populists to Congress
that they and we can force BO to do the right thing .

is a moran or a parasite (or a moranic parasite?). I'm hoping that we get much more action than he's laid out.

23. a quibble with Kunstler:
that is a negative statement that implies that america is "wrecked".

you can lay this at the GOP's feet, but it has to be said in a HOPEFUL way.

americans are too dumb to vote reality, let alone doom & gloom.

20. capitalism?
the timing of this major failure of the financial markets couldn't be better. Capitalism has been propped up for as long as it could be and now its obvious that the time has come for an alternative, fair and just, ecomomic system. Even war can't keep the machine running anymore, and people are going to start to get it when it hits their pocketbooks, and retirement savings.

29. economic models on infinite expansion
is merely politely describing a fatal explosion. Stability & providing SERVICES is top priority, a nation is poor if it cannot ship food & medicine anywhere in its' territoy. Overpriced water/electricity for 1% of a nation's people is not wealthy it is piss poor. Real goods & services are the essence of civilization. Archaeologists study a nation's architecture, its' fashion, its' arts, its' ability to move goods to where they are used well, on its' ability to feed its' population, on its' political structure, its' beliefs/philosophies. Much of these things in America are dismissively called "pop culture", but archaeologists carefully go through garbage piles of ancient civilizations & pay attention to fashions, foods, & jewellry in addition to the above mentioned.

A quick buck made on a mirage in the desert is what Wall Street has been doing since the 80s; the market is pathetically emotionally-based, proven when mad cow fears drove McDonald's stock price to 2 cents a share, an impossibly low value when any store makes more than that in profits per day.

Rediculous forecasts of quarterly earnings are a big problem, selling debts/minuses as pluses are another huge problem. They should freeze the market, back-date taxes on Hedge Fund Managers & dial down the rediculous triple-digit interest rates begot via the Bankruptcy Act. That was the equivalent of breaking a man's leg & then demanding he run a marathon right now & punishing him when he failed to perform at his peak. Their penalty increase of interest rates guarantees failures.

Hong Kong had a crash in housing prices & people were forced to pay for property that had drastically dropped in price-like paying for a $1 million mortgage that had been reassessed at $100,000; why not readjust the mortgage to the current market value & get payed rather than evict/foreclose & end up reselling the property at the new lower price?

Why choose to make Americans homeless when they don't have to be? They ,must change these Madmen's Rules.
