Brokaw clearly agrees with Dick Gregory when he said that
it's not a journalist's job to tell us when we're being lied to.

Watching him just now of MTP talking to Rudy Ghouliani... Rudy conflated the "surge" with the whole damn invasion of Iraq when talking about "success".. Tom wa sfine with that.
Rudy didn't answer when Tom asked Sarah's "foreign policy" experience and McCain's "she knows more aobut energy than anyone" remark.. Tom didn't notice that there was no answer in Rudy's response...

6. Exactly..........
I thought that was the very thing the media is supposed to do: not be an advocate, just tell us the truth.

10. Well, it's supposed to be our job to figure that out...
...but with the collapse of education and the consolidation of the media, it looks as though it's no one's job anymore.

15. Apparently we need a new crew of "reporters" who feel that the fourth branch
of Government has a job to do?

2. Perhaps you meant David Gregory?
I seriously doubt Brockaw would agree with Dick Gregory on much of anything.

3. 911ani also said the Palin investigation was a partisan attack
when the Alaskan Republicans are the ones that called for it.

Brokaw never said a word... :eyes:

7. I wish there was a way we could take back our airwaves and give
them to an organization that actually wanted to report the truth.

I am actually at the point that if I hear the voice of David Gregory or Tom Brokow, I turn the tv off. I will no longer listen to their distortions. I would love it if we could get to a point when these two were on the air, they'd be talking to empty space.

8. So, how are we supposed to find out.
I think these guys are leaving a vacuum in democracy. The press plays a vital role in a democracy. They are just giving way to whoever, whatever has the most money and power.

But then, most members of the press nowadays are not well enough educated to judge what is true and what is false. They are good-looking, well-groomed announcers of words they sometimes don't even write themselves. That's all.

Hmmm! Doesn't that describe Sarah Palin too, while we are at it?

Schumer talk about how unqualified Palin was, and it was for quite some (unchallenged) time.

24. I got that impression, in fact, during the DNC
that Brokaw hated Olbermann.

I guess I must have been very mistaken too. When I took some journalism classes, I was told I had to "fact check". I thought that meant "check the facts". And now, I understand, it means, "check the facts at the door and write what I'm told".
