James Fallows on The Palin interview

"What Sarah Palin revealed is that she has not been interested enough in world affairs to become minimally conversant with the issues. Many people in our great land might have difficulty defining the "Bush Doctrine" exactly. But not to recognize the name, as obviously was the case for Palin, indicates not a failure of last-minute cramming but a lack of attention to any foreign-policy discussion whatsoever in the last seven years."

2. Welcome to DU! Excellent post!
Very informative and illuminating about the fine points of the "bush doctrine."

Y'know, if you think you're ready for the big leagues, you better know your turf. Evidently all she knows is spoon-fed tutored talking points.

6. i'm sure she felt he had violated the terms of the interview
i'd give odds he agreed to only give her softballs.

asking a republican candidate for vice-president about the bush doctrine would certainly qualify as a softball question. it gives an opportunity to talk about going after terrorists and being tough and all OR to differentiate yourself from bush.

it was only a tough question because she had no idea what he was talking about -- so much so that she couldn't even bu**sh** about it.

7. They all think they are infallible and are offended when you don't prove it to them.

4. Hey, she stopped over in Iraq once and changed planes in Ireland
Cut her some slack.

And, she used to live just a mere 4,500 miles from Moscow.

8. I fully believe that atleast the vast majority of DUers would have answered better than Palin
I seriously mean that....For over 4+ years on the DU, I've observed and participated in debates and discussions about the Bush Doctrine of pre-emptive war and his foreign policy in general. I know that anyone who has done this could have answered and addressed specifics or atleast asked "Charlie" a question to be more specific and then address that.

Lack of Intellectual Curiousity in the world and foreign policy sums it up regarding Sarah Palin....that makes her unqualified to be VP or in any executive cabinet level position as far as I'm concerned.
