55. Well, in the words of a troll who ate pizza just this morning...
Im always proud to be a free thinking INDEPENDANT Christian American.

The mental disorder there is self-evident, as every word of the statement is untrue. They aren't Christians, because their actions are 100% contradictory to the teachings of Jesus Christ. They are neither free thinking nor "independant" because they repeat the shit they hear from Hannity and Limpballs. I doubt they're proud, or they wouldn't embarrass themselves so openly, and since they endorse the treason committed against this country for the last 8 years, it's even a stretch to call them "Americans". Clearly the elevator doesn't go anywhere near the top floor in such people's heads, and even the stairs are out of order most of the time.

As for your statement that says, "There is nothing more effective politically than a Democrat who has served in the military..."

Right. Tell that to John Kerry.

22. The "concern" is based on a lie..so I'll happily dismiss the concern
and address the lie.

Now, if that concern is legitimate, addressing the lie will remove the concern....but if that concern is bullshit (as I suspect), no manner of addressing the lie will suffice. Some people would much rather nurse their mock outrage than allow facts to get in the way of their ignorance.

How do I know the concern is based on a lie?

I've lived on various military posts for nearly 2 decades...and still do.

49. Hackett, Clark, Clelland, Kerry
lost, lost, lost, lost.

The opposition does not respect their military service, so your assumption about political effectiveness is wrong.

What it does show is that the GOP uses the military as yet another prop to attack us with, and they care more about party than country. Their double-standard never ceases to amaze me, and the only thing we can do is demonstrate which party has done more for veterans and which party has historically led our military and handled national defense more sensibly and effectively. So far we haven't been able to shake this stigma about defense because of C-Span callers and media heads parroting lies.

And he was in Iraq. Most people I know who have served are fairly liberal. Not everything is that black and white, and granted I am from an Indian reservation so most people are a little more liberal to begin with, whether they go in the military or not. But that's just stupid. Look at the Dems in Congress with military experience. Ted Kennedy. John Kerry. Joe Sestak. Joe Murphy. Jack Reed. There are more that's just off the top of my head and in a few seconds, of course. But Jimmy Carter and JFK were in the military too. Not to mention Dem voices like Wes Clark, and even Al Gore. So please, that's just stupid talk.

Duh the most obvious one. Jim Webb.

That would be my 85-yo Dad who has voted Democratic all his life, and I do believe that would include the period of his service in WWII.

See if the caller has the balls to question Dad's service to his face. I think the answer would be a pretty conclusive "no."

Investigated by the FBI for treason as head of Haliburton for secret deals with Libya and Iran, both terrorist enemies of the United States of America while those nations were under US sanctions for direct involvement in the deaths of US military personel and civilians. * Ronald Reagan: due to poor eyesight, served in a non-combat role making movies.

* B-1 Bob Dornan: Consciously enlisted after fighting was over in Korea.

* Phil Gramm: did not serve.

* John McCain: Silver Star, Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross.

Democrats:

* Richard Gephardt: Air National Guard, 1965-71.

* David Bonior: Staff Sgt., Air Force 1968-72.

* Tom Daschle: 1st Lt., Air Force SAC 1969-72.

* Al Gore: enlisted Aug. 1969; sent to Vietnam Jan. 1971 as an army journalist in 20th Engineer Brigade.

* Bob Kerrey: Lt. j.g. Navy 1966-69; Medal of Honor, Vietnam.

* Daniel Inouye: Army 1943-47; Medal of Honor, WWII.

* John Kerry: Lt., Navy 1966-70; Silver Star, Bronze Star with Combat V, Purple Hearts.

* Charles Rangel: Staff Sgt., Army 1948-52; Bronze Star, Korea.

* Walter Mondale: Army 1951-1953

* John Glenn: WWII and Korea; six DFCs and Air Medal with 18 Clusters.

* Tom Lantos: Served in Hungarian underground in WWII. Saved by Raoul Wallenberg.

Now granted, there are also several Republican combat veterans in the Senate and House; and this list does not imply one is more or less of a person if they served in the military. Yet among the most war-happy Pukes that preach the whole "peace through STRENGTH" mantra and are so quick to toss tax money willy-nilly to any conflict under the sun (whether it's necessary or not), one will find many of them "had better things to do".
