start to lay out his methods of attaining the platform, hell, he should list the platform. After every speech, he should say, "Now my opponent will be along shortly to copy this idea, he'll be a few hours late, a few dollars short, and won't believe what he's saying. Who would you trust?"

and yes, he should call mcsame and asshat, I don't know what he should call mcsames' running mate though.
