Abuse of Power IS a Big Story - Because we DEMAND it to be!
RE: Lonestarnot & McCain Abuse of Power Story:

Have you decided that if the MSM decides not to deliver this story like some sort of public gospel and thus save us all from our own government that we no longer matter?

And as the MSM passes you by without nary a look back, into fascist hands no less, should Democrats just go home and sulk/whine on a keyboard? Fuck that.

Review your email lists, call your parents, post on your Facebook, write the Washington Post, write your local paper, call your Congress representative and Senator!

WE MAKE THIS THE NEWS! IT'S WHAT THE INTERNET HAS EMPOWERED US TO DO. Please don't whine about what the MSM will do, ABUSE OF POWER IS EXTREMELY RELEVANT IN A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION - especially when the (Keating 5) candidate has the gall to suddenly run on Obama's change platform!!!

Be Active not Passive - we have less than sixty days until the most important election of the modern times.

You don't beat the current champ by a split decision, you knock him the fuck out!

*** ALSO - it just might be that the MSM reads these blogs from time to time and the Cynicism here will just serve to REINFORCE any hesitation to publish, precisely because so many "Democrats" are so skeptical about this real and importance story ABOUT ABUSE OF POWER!

1. Unfortunately for WaPo, pulling the story is becoming the story.
Agreed it's up to us to take it mainstream.

15. Did you read it? It's a big 'ZZZZ'...by the reporters who broke the original story.
I think your energy would be better directed to current issues. If you want to flog this dead horse, enjoy.

19. And says it's nothing more than a retelling of an old story.
You're claiming it's significant, but the article itself says it isn't. It doesn't validate shit.

2. This is an old story. People tend to forgive drug abusers since every family has one
This is not fresh meat. There is probably much better damning evidence out there ... plenty about Palin.

6. I wholeheartedly agree. HOW can we unite and be effective...
in getting the news, the truth, out there?

The Internet DOES empowering us to do this, but it's now so large that I've lost sight of the most effective way to make use of it.

Please, Everyone, let's figure out a way to drive the story.

Beyond YouTube, it's so easy for it to get lost. YouTube sensations are what M$M seems to tap.

The Daily Show crew do the BEST job at laying the truth out there -- flat out, showing the contradictions and hypocrisy -- and I'd love to see their entertaining bits be taken seriously and made use of more effectively.

I'm on board and will try to brainstorm how to organize and take advantage of everything the Internet has to offer.

8. Email is useful
Letters to news outlets, representatives, even office conversation - the right wing doesn't seem to have a problem spreading false smears do they? (and our news is actually true!)

7. it isn't that that MSM won't make it a story it is the fact that the American
people have watched in collective yawn at the last 8 YEARS of abuse of power and they simply don't care... and this was *15* years ago. I will gurantee you that if by some chance it makes it beyone WaPo it will be spun to 'he was protecting his wife - what a wonderful husband', 'that's a private family matter - anyone else would have done the same thing', 'that's in the past'....etc ad nauseum.

but if he was having sex with someone THAT would be different.

like it or not, the American people just don't care about this kind of thing. it isn't juicy/sexy enough.

sorry.

14. I disagree with that. It IS that the corporate media skews the "news".
Remember, your impression of what most people think is -- reported to you by the corporate media.

This morning on Washington Journal, callers of all stripes called in mad that 9/11 meant our civil liberties have been eroded. You can't spin a live call.

17. I won't argue with you but my perception is based on conversations with
people 'on the street'.....at the grocery store, etc.

Most people I know are in a 'bunker' mode. They are just concerned in trying to keep home and hearth together. The fear of the last 8 years has really taken hold now with the economy where it is. I still feel like it will all be brushed aside as 'who cares?' who is going to what for me and mine.

I know I'm being horribly cynical but after the last 8 years I fear the damage has been done.

And, they should be. Can't argue with that.

engaged. They are probably also no 'low information' voters.

My best wishes to your family.. I hope they can hold on till real help arrives.

:-)

ps: are they some of the elitist educated types? :-)

9. Obama can talk about abuse of power without it being considered dirty.
When it comes to the motives he can just say "I'd rather not dwell on the reasons, as it would lower the tone of the campaign, but this abuse of power is most disturbing"

13. It's too complicated. We need "wide stances" and "underage pages".
Sorry, but that's what works if we really want a "story" to have an impact. Otherwise, the election is about working, calling, and voter registration.

21. on NPR
today I heard an interview (sorry I cannot remember the program, I only listened to small bits at a time) where the "expert" was talking about studies done that proved that people believe anything to be fact as long as it was repeated over and over.

That's exactly why Palin keeps saying that she opposed the bridge to nowhere - no matter who debunks that BS as long as the media and her supporters keep repeating it, she's golden.

So let's play their game with the TRUTH on our side, let's keep this story alive. I'm hopeful that Keith and/or Rachel will run with this!

30. Abuse of power? No one blinked when these bastards took away habeus corpus--an 800 y/o human right.
Okay, we blinked. But no one cared. Do you think Americans are going to freak out because some Republican used his position to protect his wife's reputation. Most people will think it's chivalrous.

We have all we need to crucify these people already. We just don't do it.
