A thought on "single-issue voters"
I thought about something ...

A single-issue voter who decides that he or she has to vote for Republicans based on only one issue which "matches" up with their belief (on that issue), but ignores all the other parts of the Republican platform that goes against everything else he/she stands for ...

is like a diabetic who eats a diet consisting solely of Snickers candy bars because peanuts contain protein ...

1. Another thought on "single-issue voters"
A single-issue voter who decides not to vote at all because the only two candidates have a well documented history of opposing that one issue is like a person of color not voting because the only meaningful choice of candidates is between the Grand Wizard of the KKK and a shop-keeper who makes a big show of liking other races while running a "White Customers Only" store.

2. If that single issue is your LIFE or your LIVLIEHOOD, then single-issue voting makes sense.
For instance, if the candidate is in favor of outsourcing my job, I'm not that interested on his stance on abortion...

3. I have a co-worker who consistently votes "R" because of the gun issue
(meaning- she belongs to the NRA, and has a lot of guns). Otherwise, she pro-choice, gay-friendly, etc- all the usual signs of a liberal, but she seriously believes that Democrats are going to take her guns away.

4. My coworker is all about the abortion issue.
She likes Obama, but cannot vote for him. She hates McCain and was just going to sit this one out. But when McCain picked Palin she got all excited. We have always agreed to disagree and have had respectful debates on the issue. Last week I lost it. I was so pissed that she would vote against everything else she knew and believed because this VP choice is so pro-birth. I told her that I just could not believe that she would want to force her daughter or granddaughter to give birth if they had been raped. That she did not care about health care or the economy or anything else but an issue that they talk about every election to get your vote and do nothing.
