This anticipated WaPo surprise reminds me of something...
Edited on Wed Sep-10-08 01:19 PM by JSK
Some months back, after McCain was determined to be the presumptive nominee, I heard (on Thom Hartmann's show, I believe) that McCain would likely step down from the ticket in the fall (health reasons) and the excitement over a newly anointed nominee (someone "fresh" and "exciting" like Barack) would completely take over the media buzz and put out Obama's star. The Repuke ticket would suddenly become the new "new thing."

I have been thinking about this the last week or so and I figured Sarahcuda had kind of stepped up to confirm that prediction, but now I am wondering...

edited for punctuation

1. oh God no...
Couldn't they have done better than someone who was mayor of Wasilla till a couple of years ago? Someone who could talk to the press? Someone who knew when it was TIME TO FRICKIN' STOP with the "thanks but no thanks" line?

Oh wait. This is the party who got W elected that we're talking about here. :scared:

4. Sorry if I wasn't clear
I didn't mean that Barbie would be at the top of the ticket (oh GOD NO!!) but that this whole idea of a "new and exciting" Repuke ticket(ha!)has come to pass, due to Palin being there; they don't need to replace McCain.

And I agree.. this does seem to be working for them so why mess with it. Guess we'll just stay tuned.

2. I don't know - it seems like Palin is working for them
If they were planning an october surprise I wouldn't think they would want to do it so as to roll over what they are already doing.

3. I do recall the many speculations that he would step down due to health
If your memory serves you well, then I do believe that Palin could not sustain her support. Sure, some will continue. But even my most speculative side can't envision massive numbers staying with her.

The entire laser spotlight falls on her as presidential candidate and she would have to be available to media of all kinds. As the top of the ticket it's a whole new ballgame. I don't see her as sustainable.

7. If Barbie were to have even *one* real press conference, she'd be toast.
That's why she's hiding like the coward she is. Some "pit bull". What a worthless person.

6. So the entire Republican primary was just a ruse ...
and the electoral process was used to elect someone who wouldn't otherwise have had a chance? Guess what, it wouldn't make any difference to their base. They're that stupid.

8. I "supposed" last week that McCain would step down shortly if he wins the election
That way he goes down as being directly responsible for the 1st woman president in US history and the fundies who helped him win the election now have their "tool" in place to start installing their version of government.

In the worst case scenario, he might stick it out for a few years so that Palin can still run for two full terms after completing the remainder of McCain's term.

9. I do not fear the halfwit. She can read, lie and apparently memorize lines after
repeatedly reading them about 50 bazillion times.

10. Reminds me, so far, of the Rove indictment.
There are so many of us hoping who must be satisfied with "soon," and who will be horribly disappointed and a little more cynical if nothing much happens.

I can understand why a real insider would have to play it exactly as lonestarnot has. It's unfortunate that this big event is so far indistinguishable from a hoax, and that our rampant speculation is only clouding the issue.
