McCain (2007) quote about pigs and makeup, re: Hillary and Healthcare
McCain criticized Democratic contenders for offering what he called costly universal health care proposals that require too much government regulation. While he said he had not studied Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton's health-care plan, he said it was "eerily reminiscent" of the failed plan she offered as first lady in the early 1990s.

"I think they put some lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," he said of her proposal.

1. Yes but because of McCain's sterling character, the media knows better than to speculate
on whether or not she was calling Hillary Clinton a pig.

You see it's only Democrats who have character issues.

2. it was 2007--- and read in context of the story
using the old adage was fine. Just as it was when Barack used it. I think the whole McCain campaign has just gotten bizarre.

3. They just showed this on MSNBC. McCain surrogate said it
was different because McCain was talking about policy, but 'everyone knows' Obama was talking about Palin. Weak, weak, weak talking point.
