Who do you have faith in?

"I do not put my faith in institutions, but in individuals
all over the world who think clearly, feel nobly and act
rightly. They are the channels of moral truth."

~~~ Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) ~~~
6. Will I know the truth when I see it?
There are so many lies, it is sometimes difficult to know what is true.
15. You must learn to be honest with yourself.
You must do battle with the lies that you tell yourself.
This is about your own mind- nothing more or less!
9. Perhaps "faith" isn't the right word.
I did not mean to imply blind faith, certainly. More a level of trust.
There will be a day when each of us fails to wake up.
That should not prevent us from making plans for the next day, should it?
10. A man with so many titles certainly deserves respect.
Our faith in one such as he cannot be misplaced. I bow before the fiery gaze of his greatness.
13. "Faith" is madness
I believe in things that can be replicated by the scientific method, subject to the further revision of the scientific method. And nothing else.
I suppose I should also disclose that I am a psychiatrically diagnosed Asperger's person. Everything goes through the logic circuits. Think Data from STNG.
17. Friends, family, fellow parishioners...
Friends, family, fellow parishioners, the elderly lady who bags my groceries (I think she's either a genius or an alien)... the usual assorted grab-bag of people close to me that put a smile on my face.
I've never bought into the trendy Madison Avenue marketing campaign-- "Trust No One"... as it's just too lonely and a too cynical to allow for sincere smiles in life.
20. I have faith in humanity.
No, really. Don't laugh. We've accomplished some truly amazing things despite our best efforts to fail.
24. No who.
I have "faith" in evidence-based reality. I have "faith" that the sun will rise tomorrow because experience and evidence bears it out. I have "faith" that there is a brain in my head--not because I have ever seen it, but because I empirically know that I can't exist without one.
We can make this a philosophical discussion, but I don't think that's what you meant by this thread.
I am certain that Obama is the best candidate, based on the evidence. I do not have "faith" in a man, despite my opinion that he will act in the best interest of the nation. Based on the evidence.
I could be wrong about all of the above, of course, but based on the evidence, I think the likelihood is slight.
