You know that button they push letting loose the nukes?
The potus tells em when to push it. Should someone who believes in the rapture be a heartbeat away from being in that position?

Just sayin...

4. That is mostly illusion
it does not "launch" anything but lots of frantic meetings.

12. Have they changed the system?
In my day, the "football" was to be used to transmit attack package selections and authorizations. The whole idea of deterrence was to show the other feller that the whole beast could be wakened and launched in a matter of moments.

13. The football is only, and as far as I know,
was only ever used to verify that the NCA (National Command Authority) was being initiated by the proper person. It did not actually ever "launch" anything, that was, especially back in the day, dependent on command, control, and communications.
Now with better C3 (I assume so anyway) it might be closer to a launch.

But still, yeah, if that button got pushed, there was going to be some atoms spliting somewhere, and that bimbo has no business being near it.

14. Oh, yeah .. we're saying the same thing
Basically, it sent messages to the appropriate C3. Really not that familiar with the details ... there was no need for me to be so informed. But as I understood it very high level commands could be issued ("The Pres authorizes launch of target package A-14", for example) and this would cause the chain of command to issue the sequence of orders that unleashes the unthinkable.

I think I was mislead by your statement regarding it triggering a bunch of meetings ...

Cheers.

Trav

11. Her pastor believes in the "last days" and she may, too.
As far as I know, she's never been asked by the press.

Let's donate or volunteer and keep her away from control of the US nuclear weapons.

She'd do it to bring on the "Rapture", he'd do it just because he had a hissy-fit.
