Some of those earmarks are just silly, I'll concede that. But most are for worthwhile projects like bridges, roads, libraries, schools, parks, sewage plants, fire stations, police stations, public works equipment and other projects that improve the quality of life in the United States. The total of "earmarks" in the US national budget this year in 18 billion dollars.
We spend nearly 10 billion dollars a month in Iraq. A lot of that money goes to building electric grids, water treatment plants, roads, schools parks, kinda like earmarks. Only they go to a country that now has a surplus budget. McCain is all for those "earmark", only we call it aid.
So, John McCain is against building a Bridge in Boston, but OK with the expenditure in Baghdad. He doesn't want a water treatment plant in Philadelphia, but celebrates our tax dollars building one in Fullujah. No money for a park in Annapolis, but it's OK in Anbar.
John McCain is a convert to neo-con, and converts are the most zealous.
