3. Bailouts should work something along the following lines....
(1) All executives give up their contracts (golden parachutes, perks, $, stock, etc.)

(2) All executives are summarily fired.

(3) Bailout happens.

http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/08_37/b4099060491065.htm?chan=autos_autos+--+lifestyle+subindex+page_top+stories

the cost will drop dramatically?

Looks like the US will be denied access to a cheap car due to politics as usual.
imo, Mexico should raise taxes on investment so the Mex I Can workers in Mexico can make wages equal to the american auto worker

wtf !

And with that, the addiction to OPEC oil is assured for another ten years .

7. When are people going to learn FREE TRADE is NOT FREE
Some one has to loose their job - in this case "A Whole Lot of Some Ones"

Those countries still "Maintain HIGH Tarrifs on American Made Goods"

Read Details in the WTO negotiations and you'll soon learn what a complete scam the whole "Free Trade" crap really is

8. We did this to ourselves....
Our particulate and sulfur restriction laws steered the US away from diesel a long time ago despite being the better fuel overall. Diesel was viewed as black smoke plumes and choking exhaust. There were some drawbacks but I wish the US had seen the overall picture and potential.
