3. No. Too complex. Too hard to read.
What you need is a simple, clear slogan. Like:

HUNGRY? GO KILL A MOOSE.

PREGNANT? IF YOU'RE WHITE, OKAY.

FOUR MORE YEARS...IN IRAQ.

LET'S DRILL IN YOUR BACK YARD.

Print it big. No teeny type. Make it so you can read it on the back of a car like a REAL bumper sticker. Walk eight feet away. If you can read it, you've got it. These stickers fail the test.

7. Sorry.
I don't do slogans. These people deserve more than five word burns.

9. Campaigns aren't about satisfying your inner writer.
They are about getting messages across. If it makes you feel good to write novels and put them on your car's bumper, bully for you. But no one will read them and they won't have an effect.

13. They can and will when I'm parked.
And what's so unreadable about 3 of the first four?

20. 'Shitting' or 'Fucking' on a bumper sticker or in a campaign?
I think that is poor strategy.

27. THIS is what is unreadable.
First of all, nobody looks at bumpers when cars are parked except cops. Bumpers are read while moving, and you have half a second to make an impact on people's minds. This fact has always escaped the amateur PR person.

Second, given that half second, which of these bumper stickers gets the message across quickly and concisely?

The first is a bumper sticker written by a Democrat, who's trying to impress people with his own wit and ego, and only incidentally wants to attack his political opponent (and does so with nuances and second-guessing so he doesn't come off as too strident). This is an ineffective bumper sticker.

The second is written by a Republican who knows how to wield a knife and attack his opponent. True, in this case he's attacking a Republican, but he isn't a coward and he is unafraid. This bumper sticker wins elections and destroys opponents.

I rest my case.

5. I just made them tonight.
I'm just sick of all the overdrive spotlight, press and praise for these two serial liars and their circus receive while the serious ticket is becoming an afterthought. We really ARE a nation enamored with celebrity . . . the wrong kind.

6. Looking at the picture of the two of them...
somehow reminded me of American Gothic by Grant Wood. I have no idea what that has to do with anything I just got that strong image in my mind. I wonder what effect depicting the two of them as the subjects in that painting would have?

11. Wow
You think people are going to think the words "shitting" and Fucking" are going to be o.k. on the back of a car they have their kids in? The others are too small to read.

15. NO VULGARITY
which turns off WAY too many people, including Obama supporters. Frankly, in my state it could probably get you arrested no matter which party you support.

It's one thing to write FUCK and SHIT in here, where adults choose to come. It's a very different thing to put them in people's -- and their children's -- faces when they're minding their own business going about their daily lives and don't have a lot of choices. Have to go food shopping, have to drive to work, etc. Don't appreciate staring into that vulgarity while doing it. Juvenile attempt to get attention. Hurts the effort.

TOO MANY WORDS! If you "don't do slogans" than don't do them. Bumper stickers are, by nature, places to stick slogans.
What is the difference between "HORRIBLE ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE" and "ECONOMY" in the given context? None, except the # of words. So "Pay no attention to the economy. Vote McSame/Failin" says the same thing in 9 words instead of 16.

PICTURES -- your chosen image of McSame/Failin is a good starting point. If you can, distort them a little more so they look even more like someone sticking their face in a window or closeup mirror!

21. Yes, it is better to have few words so it can be read quickly and ...
the words will be large enough to read. We're talking about a bumper sticker after all.

25. I think you should change "shitting" to "kidding."
I think otherwise you'll turn people off -- yes, particularly people with kids in their car.

(I swear like a sailor on DU, BTW.) ;)
