11. Just?
He abandoned it back in 2006 when he ignored the decision of plurality of Democratic primary voters who voted against him.

Also, Gore was trying to distance himself from Clinton.

23. Gore made a calculated decision regarding Florida

He figured that the significant Jewish vote in Florida would be enough to secure the state for the ticket and that would win him the presidency. He was absolutely correct... except that bastards stole it.

Without him the election probably wouldn't have been so close.

4. He won't leave because he can be more annoying as a Democrat on paper
If he switches, he is just one Republican among many. He's more unique, though, as an "independent" Democrat who votes with the Republicans on every issue that matters.

25. Maybe he wants to be a Senator for another term after this one.
If he joins the Republican Caucus, then the voters will kick him out of office in the next election.

If he stays in the Democratic Caucus, maybe he'll keep winning his Senate elections.

30. So they'll re-elect him even though he is a Dem in name only?
If they are so set on having a Dem (which I certainly understand) you'd think someone would challenge him for the seat... and it seems like it would be pretty easy pickin's after his recent behavior. I'm not intentionally being obtuse- I really don't understand.

35. We can try again in 2012 to replace Lieberman with a Democrat...
...but he won once running as an independent and might win again that way.

Further associating himself with the Republicans by joining their caucus would probably make him easier to defeat.

15. Right, he already left.
He's doing what he always has done, playing both ends against the middle. If McShithead wins he'll get an influential job in the new administration, possibly Secretary of Defense. If Obama wins he'll remind us of all the kissy kissy lies like this, hoping we'll be stupid enough to forgive and forget when it comes time to organize the new Senate in January.

27. The election. He saw how dignified Hillary was about not being the nominee...
... and had no idea that it was possible to lose an election and not be an asshole.

Like all authoritarians, he lacked imagination and class.

He regrets being a sell-out.

17. The reality of things...
May well be, finally, out of his hands. I would hope that the Dems have the grit to dump his sorry ass at the exactly best time, for them, and to make it as painful, messy and personally and professionally embarrassing for The Silly Little Man as they can. And then make it worse.

The worst thing you can be is disloyal to those who have been loyal to you. He has been disloyal to the Dems in general and Obama in particular. The truth of The Silly Little Man's character has been exposed for all to see. It is now time for the accounting.

Didn't you do that when you started actively stumping for john mcsame? Didn't you do that when you decided bush's war was more important than not just your party but your country?

51. Lieberman initiated the CT for Lieberman party but he never got it formally created
with the Secretary of State. It was the Lamont supporters who did the paperwork after they hijacked that party so that Lieberman could not use it or create another party with his name on it.

And persisted in his lust for power by becoming an Independent and defeated the Dem winner, I disliked him from that point forward. I think Lieberman is a punk. HE IS NO DEMOCRAT!!!!!!! He cares more about his personal power(AIPAC) than his country!!!!

54. Lieberman had two game plans depending on what McCain did -
He would have gladly placed that R after his name had McCain chosen him

or

Make the claim he was still with the Democratic Party if McCain didn't choose him

McCain didn't pick him as VP...so this is Lieberman's predictable self-serving, opportunistic nature jockeying to maintain some label of leadership.

At least I think so
