19 yr old chanting for food in Ramsey Co. jail is hooded and tortured.
"During the news conference, a 19-year-old activist named Elliot Hughes said he was beaten and tortured inside Ramsey County Jail. Sheriff Bob Fletcher told the Star Tribune that Hughes was “extremely disruptive” in jail and that “it took some force to control him.”'

Eliot Hughes, his face clearly battered, describes his ordeal in a press conference by RNC Welcoming Committee in the second hour of Democracy Now! today. He says he was punched in the face, his head slammed down on the floor, taken to another cell, where they hooded him, separated his jaw, bent his foot straight back.

23. she was so glib about it
and should her son be captured and tortured, Palin will wail - with much keening about "terrorists"

and not once will she think about her own words...about her own beliefs...that it's OK to torture people, to deny them rights

12. Thom Hartmann mentioned seeing the cops beat up on a kid in front of an outdoor cafe
And the Republicans across the street from him cheered.

These "people" are despicable.

26. I'm podcasting so I'm a little behind but he did have Amy Goodman and two of her producters
on for an hour on Tuesday talking about her arrest and the detaining of the I-Witness video people as well as the behavior of the police. I haven't listened to Wednesday yet.

3. Why is our country in the hands of these people?
They were spied on for over a year! Thrown in jail and abused! "400 to 500 alleged anarchists for creating unrest in St. Paul over the past week."

14. It's always been here
Remember the police siccing dogs on protesters during the 60's? It's just that back then the media would show these pictures. Now they hide evidence of police abuse and call protesters anarchists so that the average dim-bulb will think that the person got what they deserved. Because the dim-bulb's mode of thinking they wouldn't do anything to deserve such treatment so it'll never happen to them -until it does.

21. There seems to be some Federal puppeteering going on here.
Amy did a segment about two weeks ago where her guests explained why "fusing" local police to Federal agents was a terrible idea. This is what they meant.

27. Exactly.
My thought, too. I used to live in St. Paul (O.K., it was a long time ago), but I still find it hard to believe Minnesota has become Abu Ghraib West overnight, without something else going on.

19. But, it's not a police state.
It's not fascism, it's a post 9/11 world. I'm just so sick of the defenders of totalitarianism I just want to start dragging them out of their cars and houses and showing them life from the other side.:grr:
