Man Up Time: Palin DID NOT cut the budget
Alright, so I got lots of props on my post the other day where I described how disgusted I was with the fact that Sarah Palin, describing herself as an advocate for special needs kids, slashed the special education budget in her state. First let me thank you for your heartfelt replies to my story, I appreciate them.

Second let me prove I'm not a republican by doing something a republican would never do... admit I was wrong.

As it turns out this fact was reported badly and it stuck in my craw, thus my post. But in fact it isn't true. Basically it turns out that rather than being one lump sum the special ed budget in Alaska was broken into two different sections, one of which was a special ed training academy in Alaska that schools kids to help them graduate and trains them on job skills so they can support themselves in some way.

Alright... there it is. I was wrong. I still don't feel this woman is in anyway qualified to be a heartbeat away from the presidency (or in McOld's case one quarter to one half a heartbeat away), but my anger yesterday was unfounded and I'm man enough to admit it.

1. We have to fight as mean and dirty as the Repukes do, but unlike them, we use actual facts.
We need to all be clear on what is true and what is not.

2. Meh.
If it works to prevent Republicans from running things, there's enough truth in it for me.

The only kind of bad politics are ineffective politics.

3. No, because if you try to argue with an incorrect fact, then it discredits everything else you say.

5. Then why do 50 million people hang on Bill O'Reilly's every word?
The only people for whom accuracy matters is us. It ain't workin.

6. Because he re-enforces their picture of their false reality, from which they MUST someday emerge.
We need to give them the pill to remove themselves from The Matrix, into REALITY, not create a new Matrix of our own.

9. You're whistling in the dark.
People don't care about accuracy. They care about a caricature. If it's a ridiculous caricature, they'll ridicule it. Bush is now a ridiculous caricature, we need to press that advantage and paint his allies with that brush.

Most voters won't take the red pill. They actively reject it, time and again.

They laugh at the idea of election fraud. They think habeas corpus is fancy legal talk for some sort of ill-defined bad thing.

Learn from experience. I want to give these GOP assholes the Willie Horton treatment. Order up the purple bandaid treatment. I want to swiftboat these fuckers. Not for retribution, but because it works.

People can instinctively process the concept of a lumpy old philandering creep. They can process the idea of a meddlesome social-climbing hypocritical unfit mom.

Did she gut services for people with developmental disabilities? Yes, and I want to hear her deny it.

11. Did Sarah Palin engage in ritualistic sexual abuse of farm animals with a Satanic cult?
I want to hear her deny it!

Uhm...

No.

We use The Red Pill.

Oh! There it is again! I hope that Sarah will address the american public to deny these scurrilous rumors.

The red pill disabused me of a fantasy: "truth will out". It doesn't.

Kick 'em when they're down.

In fact, I'm going to do my part to assure that a search for "ritual sexual abuse of farm animals" and "Sarah Palin" direct googlers to DU.
