Out of all of the BS from Bush's... I mean Palin's speech
Sorry for the Freudian slip, but we all know already that Palin's speech was written by Bush speechwriters even before she was picked as VP.

As I was saying, the thing that confuses me most - and is probably the most hypocritical part of the speech to me - is why she (they) attacked Obama's community service. Haven't they been saying all along that social programs SHOULD be done privately, by volunteers, rather than by government? Isn't that the Republican wet dream?

And how in the hell can she say that "organizing" ANYTHING doesn't hold responsibility. Hell, responsibility is inherent in the term "organizing", unless you believe that you can pass the buck and the blame to someone else.

Oh, wait! That would make sense! If you never cared about the position or the responsibilities that came with it, then you would pass the "blame" on to someone else if you never felt a sense of responsibility in the first place.

Considering Palin's brief record, that would explain much. "I don't have to accept responsibility as long as I can place the blame on someone else."

But that still doesn't explain why they would want to piss-off the very people they are claiming they support. Unless they are very, very stupid and think their supporters are even more stupid.

Oops! I forgot I was talking about Republicans. I was thinking logically. Never Mind!

1. the day before cnn Anderson cooper had asked obama about
experience and the fact that they said she had more than him - he smiled a huge smile (almost a laugh) and calmly told them that running a small office with 50 employees was not like what he was doing with the campaign of 2100 employees and a budget of 10 million a month compared to a year - so this was their dig back - misguided thought

2. The convention theme was "service" so they mock service work?
I didn't get it at all and still don't. The crowd went along with it so enthusiastically when rudy and Palin mocked it. What is mockable about it? That it's low paying? That you work so closely with poorer people?

It was one of the things I liked when I was researching the candidates? When he had a good paying job but was looking all over for some service job and then took that one...and the way people reported he worked so hard at the job...well I was inspired that his choices from the start were jobs he sought hoping to make a difference. It's not unrelated to why he is running for president actually. He didn't think he could make enough difference as a community organizer and maybe with a law degree he could bring more change...so he got that and came back. (He kept doing organizer training through his years in Chicago)
Then being civil rights lawyer didn't bring enough change. Maybe politics? The State Senate didn't create enough change, lost for US Congress but became US Senator.
Was shocked to find out you make even less of a difference as a US Senator.

If you are seeking to make a positive difference, hey president is the next logical step.

But that's off the subject. Don't get why they would mock the kind of job they should encourage.

3. if community service is "bad"
why did they "postpone" convention in order to go pack care packages for Gustav victims?

they should be ashamed of themselves.
