What's this baloney about "Country First"? Since when did those bastards
ever do anything but enrich themselves at the expense of the lives of the underclass? It's so fucked up as to be beyond comprehension.

1. Everytime McBomb says "country first", someone needs to answer, "Abramoff".
Country first, my granny.

3. It's some kind of half ass code word for something. I can't even
imagine.

4. These people keep creating something like a founding myth --
the one where this was a vast empty continent and white people brought civilization to America. God is on their side and they are the beleaguered Good People.

Whenever they're in the toilet, they dredge it up again. So when they say "country", they probably mean that other country of their mythos, not this joint.

2. Reminds me of a Woody Guthrie song
"They say America first, but they mean America next."

5. They believe they are righteous and patriotic
They seen no disconnect with advocating a war, for example, yet not fighting it yourself. They see know disconnect with emoting blindly about freedom, and having your own party trample the Constitution and spy on Americans. They see no disconnect with being disgusted over John McCain being tortured as a POW and our own country waterboarding prisoners or holding them in Guantanomo without trial.

Republicans are able to believe two different contradicting things are once, because their brains tend to compartmentalize them. Something that would make most people pause and think about or even feel a sense of shame over doesn't register with them. That's why they can do things like denigrate John Kerry's war service while waving a flag cheering a guy who went AWOL. As a result they believe they are always right, it's why facts don't matter to a Republican. You can show them policy works and if they don't want to believe it they simply won't because they just know it already and have compartmentalized it away from all rational thought.

6. The slogan on their signs should have read "Me First."
That would be more accurate! Wouldn't a little honesty be refreshing?

7. Misstatement... He meant to say
"Country Club First"

I hope that clears up any misunderstanding you had

8. He wants everybody to work together to get results...
as long as it's his way. I think after tonight, Rove will become even more involved than he already is. Statements like "Drill, drill, drill!" and "Hang 'em high!" are music to his ears.

They've got themselves Dick Cheney in a skirt, and loving every minute of it. If they end up in the White House, I figure Palin will be running the show, whether McCain realizes it or not.

9. I think it's their version of a "unity" message,
as opposed to "party first," which is how most people think of the Republicans (deservedly). It's kind of like Bush's pledge to be "a uniter, not a divider" except that they didn't dare recycle THAT one!
