Captain Obvious sez: Alaska is the most socialist state in the Union hands down and going away
Alaska does not have a state income tax.

Move to Alaska and the government will start sending you a check every year.

$1654 last year.

Anyone in some other state get a check from the government just for living there?

1. I bet you if you called their annual oil fund checks "welfare," they'd eliminate it.
Call recipients of the oil fund checks welfare queens and lazy deadbeats, and pretty soon, there will be a big movement to destroy the program.

2. Have you read "The Authoritarians"?
If not then you won't be positive that the hypocrites will swallow any cognitive dissonance, it really doesn't matter how strong it is.

Look, we watched a sperm donor baby daddy get applauded for consuming oxygen at the RNC last night..

After that performance can you really doubt the hypocrites' ability to ignore any cognitive dissonance?

6. Cognitive dissonance indeed.
I think that's the one thing I just don't get about them. How can they live with so much dissonance?

8. Well, that's the beauty of it.
It's like asking how can a fish live in all that water. You and I couldn't, but they can because it is their natural element, and is essential to their lives.

4. And even at that, they still suck billions out of the US Treasury
Instead of building their own roads and bridges to nowhere, Alaska expects the Lower 48 to fund their infrastructure and buy them other nice things. Gov. Palin enacted a windfall profits tax on the oil companies (taxed the rich) and then distributed that money to the state's residents (gave to the poor). How does that make her not a socialist, according to Republican logic?

Oh, I almost forgot: IOKIYAR.

10. Thanks to Palin it's
$3200 this year.

Why does the rest of the country have to subsidize Alaska's Permanent Fund through higher gasoline and fuel oil prices?
