3. The question is "why" did they vote against the IWR while everyone else voted "Yea"?
Edited on Thu Jan-25-07 03:46 PM by Selatius
Why did they do it even though Bush said there were WMD in Iraq?

Did they vote against Bush because they didn't believe the evidence he was peddling on Capitol Hill before the invasion?

Did they believe the evidence Bush was peddling at face value but voted against Bush because they didn't trust Bush?

4. "Everyone else" is quite a broad brush considering the large number of Dems

who voted nay. Unfortunately some trusted Bush's assurances that he'd use the "war as a last resort" option. It came down to yes or no, there were no in betweens. However, let us appreciate those who voted NO while not taking this as an opportunity to pile on those who believed Colin Powell please. I think each person would have a unique answer for why they voted in a particular manner?

8. My senator, Patty Murray, and rep, Brian Baird both faced elections and voted NO.
And, both won handily. So much for the "practical politics" argument used by the apologists for those who voted for the war.

9. Yikes, I hope no one uses politics as a reason for a yes vote?
And, I'm certain any politician who voted yea regrets that from a "political" and personal standpoint today.
