That little special needs baby should not have
been there tonight. Geez, what is he about 4 or 5 mos old? Around all of that noise and commotion and yelling..and then passed around from person to person to person. What is the matter with her that she would put her special needs and vulnerable baby in that situation? She is so smug and condescending. Every women in this country is reminded by her personality of the smart assed, know it all girl that we all knew and hated in high school. But, aside from that...that baby should not have been there tonight. He should have been in a quiet bedroom, in his crib and watched and cared for by a competent and caring parent substitute.

2. That baby is used like the Chihuahua that Paris Hilton carries around..Not as a living soul, but
in this case, a political accessory, like Paris's fashion accessory.

23. no, not really
No, I'm not an ass. But, I do have various opinions on things. And, as you'll see, I don't have to call names in order to get my point across. That it a weapon of the weak. The weapon used by those with nothing, really, to say. But, just bare with me. I'm just making some comments. It's all good.

I'm curious as to why you chose to respond to this particular post where the OP was commenting about a special needs infant. I'd like to know more about your motivation. Care to share?

Edit: forgot to add, I'm off to bed since I do have a job I have to show up to tomorrow. So, if there is any response required of me, it won't be tonight.

33. good night
Well, not that it matters, and I'll get ridiculed, but I'll tell you. I've been a Special Ed teacher for 13 years. I didn't think it was 'dangerous' for her to bring the baby to the convention. And, what if she is just proud of her Son? It's hers, she loves him. He's part of the family. And, this was a time to introduce her family to the world. Of course, I can understand why everyone is ridiculing her. But, this short time up on stage and in the audience won't cause him harm.

Ok, flame away...

Edited on Wed Sep-03-08 10:36 PM by TahitiNut
It's despicable and obscene.
:puke:

The "special needs" seem to be Sarah's, not the child's. She's a vile, self-serving, sociopathic piece of moose shit.

Oh ... that "girl in high school"?? They're called "Heathers." Sarah's sister is named Heather ... but Sarah personfies the archetype.

7. I'm actually really OFFENDED by it...

Not only do all the attack-dogs around her slam anyone who dares bring up her kids, but then she parades them all over TV and uses her little special-needs baby like a prob and her pregnant teenage daughter like a trophy.

As a woman, I can't stand her politics.
As a mother, I'm appalled by her actions.

8. Trig really makes a great prop.

He's been unusually placid and lethargic in his many appearances on stage. Does that have anything to do with Down syndrome?

I find despicable that they insist on dragging him around. Tacky is an understatement. Not one commentator has mentioned anything about this child abuse. Why not?

9. Because that baby is the most important symbol of her appeal
to these nutters. The fact that she chose to bear a Downs Syndrome baby is the #1 reason for their embracing her - she's one of them. The baby must always be on view, lest they forget.

16. How sadly predictable
Most of you know that she gave a great speech. So, what's left to do, but, again, judge her actions as a Mother. Yes, how sad. None of you know one thing about this child. Did you see the earplugs in his ear? He was just fine, but thanks for the 'concern'.

17. We were watching the CNN alternate feed online that just showed
the "family box" throughout the speech. The littlest girl (Piper?) was holding the poor kid and spitting on her hand and wiping his head, trying to dig something out of his eye for about 5 minutes and then nearly dropped him! Downs babies can have very fragile necks and daddy-of-the-year Todd doesn't even notice that his infant is being manhandled by his sister. (I have a friend with a Downs child.) Downs kids can also be extra susceptible to infections and hearing loss and they have him in a auditorium full of screaming germ-carriers??? :wtf:

20. She doesn't care
My wife works with that population daily, and is well aware that she cut funding for special needs in Alaska by 64%- that is a huge amount!

She made it extremely difficult for her own child to get even a public education in Alaska!

36. The baby was there on display, to be a prop for how great and wonderful
Sarah Palin is because she had a DS baby. Sarah Palin doesn't give a shit about that little boy.
It is there to serve her needs and focus attention on her.

Any caring mother in her right mind would not drag a 5 month old baby to a circus like that.
What does the baby gain from that experience?

...that has to be kind of disconcerting and frightening for any baby. These people are completely shameless, especially the way they passed that child around like a prop. I half expected Todd Palin to tell his new son-in-law "Go long" and then toss the infant his way like the political football they've made him.
