We'll join this conversation already in progress:

Me:

But the voters have had a chance to vet him over those months, haven't they? Rev. Wright was the huge story for a long time. Networks went to the school he attended as a child to check out how 'islamic' it was. His thoughts and ideas and proposals and speeches have been heard over and over.

Thing is it's been spread out over a long time, 2 books, 2004 DNC speech, etc.

Sarah Palin, last Friday.

Dude 1:

PAY ATTENTION: WHAT ARE HIS QUALIFICATIONS?

Me:

PAY ATTENTION! He campaigned and got the votes and the nomination!!!!!!!! The people made the choice. Just as they will with Palin!!!

For over a year Obama's qualifications have been an issue discussed over and over and the voters made their decision.

For the last 5 days Palin's qualifications have been an issue discussed and the voters will make their decision.

Dude 2:

It's simple logic really: If Palin is too inexperienced to be in the Number 2 spot, then Obama is too inexperienced to be in the Number 1 spot. It's really that simple. And, if you compare their records, Palin has taken a stand and let her views be known - Obama opted to "not vote" on anything of significance during his short term in the Senate. He only distanced himself from his Pastor of 20 years because the media got into his business.

Discussion over. Let's see how she does over the next couple of months and I suppose the American public will make their decision in November.

Me:

Ok then. If 'executive experience' is the only benchmark, then I guess reverse the Republican ticket, and skip voting all together to put Palin in as President.

Dude 2:

Certainly not what I meant. I was comparing "experience" and the media's hype of how inexperienced she is to be in the Number 2 spot. Obama is running for the Number 1 spot with the same (or even less) experience. Logic.

Me:

Of course it's not what you meant.

But using your logic, Palin has more executive experience that McCain. So reverse the ticket and run her as President if she is so qualified.

Logic.
