A Fun Moment At The Auto Parts Store Today
I had to run into town to buy some sandpaper. I went to the auto parts store. The place is owned and staffed by rabid Republicans. They have a TV on the counter with FOX on all day long. They've been needling' my ass for years but have toned it down a good bit lately. They may be stupidified but they are not brain dead. So this afternoon I was in there and I paid for my sandpaper at about the same time one of the FOX announcers said something wonderful about Ms. Palin. I just laughed out loud and then in a nicely raised voice for all to hear I said "can you believe that idiotic Republican Party? Look at that clown they picked for the VP slot. The woman ain't qualified to run the PTA and there she is just one heart attack away from being put in charge of atom bombs and running this country" Then I laughed again - BwaHahahahahaha! And they all just hung their heads nodding in agreement. They know ...

The Republican Party is toast.

1. I read your post, got to the end,
and heard myself say, "Jesus!" out loud.

That wasn't at all what I expected. Neither did you, I'll bet.

That's an absolutely GREAT story. Let us hope...............

2. If they truly, truly love their country like they say they do, they
cannot think McCain/Palin is what's best for this country. Let's hope the vote their hearts.

Similar Experience At My Barber This A.M........
actually my barber that just spent 8 days in a hospital - most during the DNC - asked me what I thought about this woman the Repugs picked for VP. I used the 'heartbeat away from the presidency line' and then asked 'do you want her to protect your country'.

He said - hell no - she's not qualified. Then went on to say that he watched pretty much the whole DNC and really was totally impressed with Obama and that his acceptance speech was probably the best speech he's ever heard. (He's 70y/o and heard lots of speeches). He said he wasn't sure who he'd vote for before he heard the speech and watched the convention - but he's sure that he'll vote for Obama now.

Then I looked at the seats of the guys waiting their turn for a haircut - and their heads were all shaking in agreement.

The interesting thing is that this guy never wants to talk politics - always stayed away from the topic. He shocked me when he brought it up first.

There is something going on in this country. I believe that Obama has gotten through to the electorate. We're gonna win!!!!

6. co-worker of mine (a repub but not rabid)
wanted to know if there was a reset button, or an undo regarding mccain picking palin.

he also went as far as to say, "even if he (mccain) dumps her -the damage is done, it's real poor judgement"

7. And that is the only way that they can justify their choices and be believed.
Sad, but true.

5. Maybe they realize that . . .
but I bet a majority of them will still vote Republican--they just can't help themselves, and they sure can't stomach voting for the "libruals."

8. That's great to hear, but that was earlier today. Palin gave a great speech tonight for the Repukes.
It was the usual Rove meat-and-potatoes: family values, hardworking Americans, fighting for us, blah blah blah blah. Mostly propaganda and a lot of blatant lies and innuendo. "My husband is a proud member of the steel workers union." I don't know how these assholes can say shit like that with a straight face after all the years of union-busting, but she said it and he got a standing O.

THE PROBLEM IS THAT SHIT WORKS WITH THESE PEOPLE. As always they have great lines that skewer the Dems. The Repugs don't mind getting down and dirty.

Go ask those guys tomorrow if they feel the same way. I'd love to hear what they say.

10. here's the union president's statement:
WASHINGTON, Aug. 29 2008 - "It is important to realize that while the governor's husband is a member of a union, this does not automatically qualify her for an on-the-job training program to become a heartbeat away from the presidency. And while her husband is one of 850,000 dues-paying members of the steelworkers union, it does nothing to absolve Sen. McCain of his long history of anti-union sentiment and anti-worker actions, including continuously pushing an anti-working family agenda that:

-- Opposes giving workers the right to bargain collectively;

-- Jeopardizes retirement security by privatizing social security;

-- Further threatens job security by signing more job-stealing trade deals without the regard to human rights and environmental abuses; and,

-- Erodes the ability of working families to secure quality health care by taxing their employer-provided coverage for both active and retired workers.

McCain's choice is another example of his poor judgment and his desire to play politics as usual. McCain-Palin is not a team that works for working families. The first-term governor's record is thin and divisive. And John McCain has a life-long record of being for the rich and powerful. No union card can hide that any more than Ronald Regan's union card did."
