Wow, somehow "PALIN" and "choice" ended up next to each other. NAVARRETTE has passed his mantle of Shrub-worship right onto Mc5PLANES without the slightest hitch. Apparently it's not just "White, Liberal males" he detests, but just *any* Dem of whatever gender or race, and he has expanded his man-love of White Rethugs to include women.

What I've always said about him, that his offering advice to Dems is not for the good of Dems, he now turns around on Dems, saying that whatever WE disapprove of must mean it's good for Rethugs, of which he takes heart.

Btw, I only peek into his worthless crap of a column when the headline writer lures me provocatively, and in posting here I am forced to read it to know what I'm talking about. So from the dozen or so of his columns that I've read over the YEARS, this is the most vapid of his vapidity. His multiple relocations must be sapping. He needs to tap into his hatred of White Liberal males for the good of his career with masochistic White males.

Sarah Palin: A good choice for Republicans and the country

Never mind the naysayers and inside-the-Beltway snobs who mock John McCain's selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate. This was a brilliant choice.

Sure, it's a risk. But as Palin's defenders point out, no less a risk than asking the country to take a chance at the top of the ticket on a first-term senator from Illinois who doesn't have much to show in legislative accomplishments or foreign policy expertise.

I've defended Barack Obama by urging that we think outside the box and ask whether the world with which McCain is so familiar hasn't changed over the last 40 years to the point where it's no longer familiar to the rest of us. Now it's fair to raise the same concern about the individual whom Palin will square off against, Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden, who entered the Senate when Palin was 8. ....

But what really gave away that this was a good choice was the reaction from the Democrats and their pals in the media. When they weren't criticizing Palin, they were painting her as inexperienced. Needless to say, these are not folks who worry about the best interests of the Republican Party. It's fair to say that if McCain's VP choice had gone over well in these quarters, then it would have been time for the GOP to worry. ....

Here's a thumbnail I always attach for the blessedly uninitiated:

Most here should already be familiar with this a-hole. Start with the short-cut: A minority member who is a wingnut. Go on from there, another one of those Affirmative Action alums whose "Liberal" professors turn them into wingnut tools--- I can hear them now: "Don't be SO predictable. It's a CLICHE for a minority to be a Lib, so GO THE OTHER WAY, or at least, be a 'cafeteria' type, picking and choosing from whatever party!1" So NAVARRETTE dropped out of his Harvard AA slot, slunk back to his hometown where he was skunked by the homeboys, then somehow went back to Harvard and squeaked through, then cashed in by writing a poor-mouthing thingy about how CRUEL "White Liberal males" were to him, then parlaying that into being a wingnut tool. And of course our CRACK media eats up a "non-traditional minority viewpoint" so they syndicate him and all.

So his track record as a columnist is to perpetually GIVE ADVICE TO DEMS, like Dems should listen to a WINGNUT TOOL!1 Back in the '90s, when the real Democratic Party of Texas was reviving with African American Ron KIRK from its dead years of Shrub's pact with Texas Southern Conservative Dems (call them A-holes), NAVARRETTE was lecturing Dems that they OWED it to one Victor MORALES (a high school teacher in a weekend battered pick-up truck) to give him another nomination, because nutso Victor had been carrying the Dem standard in the wilderness years. When KIRK won the nomination, Victor refused to endorse him, and in fact, went on to endorse the Rethug candidate. What else, when Gonzo GONZALES was nominated for Torture-Mouthpiece by Shrub, NAVARRETTE proclaimed that he should be confirmed without Senate committee advice JUST BECAUSE he is a Hispanic (in name only), and that, besides, NAVARRETTE would be watching him like O.J. was searching for the real killer, and would CONDEMN him mightily if he screwed up. HaHAH, not a peep from NAVARRETTE ever since.

But his bottom line is always that the Dems, specifically White Liberal males, have done nothing for minorities except to keep them enslaved, and that Shrub appointed all those 3 or 4 minorities to HIGH posts, much more than CLINTON ever did. He neglects to mention that Dem PROGRAMS extend benefits to MILLIONS instead of jobs to THREE OR FOUR.

I think it's really sort of an exercise in group shark-jumping. Palin will look worse day after day and week after week all the way to the election.

If just one person in the Corporate Media would just start harping on the "If it's good enough for the Founding Fathers, it's good enough for me" quote, when asked about how she felt about the "under God" phrase in the pledge of allegiance, she would be done. (The pledge was written in the 1890's by a socialist, and "under God" wasn't added until the 1950's by Eisenhower).

That breath-taking ignorance exposes her (and by extension, the republicans' in general) false use of patriotism and religiosity to appeal to the average American voter. They bring it up as often as they can, but their love of God and Country is only skin deep, if they don't even take the time to know some basic facts about it.

In fact, "skin-deep" seems to be a good phrase to describe most of the positions of the republicans. It's all just a cover, a distraction, away from their policies of enriching the rich and looting the country.

4. I never thought I'd quote Jesse VENTURA *approvingly* but
Last night he said on Larry KING that he wouldn't join or vote for either party, but cited the example of the Rethugs, that 4 yrs ago they thoroughly trashed an honorably serving Vietnam veteran then turn around THIS time make Mc5PLANE's Vietnam service as the centerpiece, just adopting whatEVER position they find most conVEEnient.

5. So I e-mailed him a copy of the o.p., and his reply was: Glad he STIRRED me!1 Ewww!1
On the local radio wingnut talkshow (the only place that will interview him), he bragged about being syndicated to (200? 400?) newspapers and being featured on the CNN website. Nobody reads his CRAP, no matter where it is. So here he lists his "impressive" resume as his sig line. He also sneered at those who went to State/public universities, forgetting that he got to Harvard through AA.

Our DUer Maestro has said he engaged in debate with NAVARRETTE and fellow wingnut Linda CHAVEZ back during school days and those wingnuts were genuine a-holes (my perjorative, not the gracious Maestro's).

So, the lower case affectation has nothing, I'm sure, to do with e.e. cummings. He doesn't dispute anything in my thumbnail.
