Right Wing Praises McCain’s Obedience

In 2000, John McCain solidified his "maverick" reputation by lambasting the Religious Right. He labeled Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell "agents of intolerance" and decried the Right's role within the Republican Party:

“They are corrupting influences on religion and politics, and those who practice them in the name of religion or in the name of the Republican Party or in the name of America shame our faith, our party and our country.”

2. Further Proof

McSame's pick of Palin is just further proof that the one time maverick is no more. At one time, McSame did have principles and didn't pander to anyone. He challenged his party and the Washington culture. Now, his desperation to become president has made him turn and embrace the ones he once rejected. If he had picked Joe Lieberman (or even Olympia Snowe) as his running mate, I would have known that he still had it - a willingness to defy those who have held the Republican Party in a stranglehold for almost 30 years. Instead, McSame caved.
